Chunin exams are being held in Konoha, as well as in other villages. They need to assess their defenses for the approaching danger. Some students are seen cheating and getting away with it while some others, not so much.
Boruto and his friends pass the first round of tests and encounter an odd classmate. His name is Kawanami Kaito and shooting out webs seems to be his specialty.
Twenty-six students make it to the second round and are to go inside the forest, battle monsters and enemies, rescue their subordinates and come back in 45 minutes.
Kawanami tries to pull a fast one on him, trying to take his subordinate. Will Boruto make it back in time?
Episode 222 Speculations
The ending of episode 221 was nerve-wracking for all the Boruto fans. Boruto would end up fighting his close friends, whom he has always tried to protect. Will he find the strength to fight against the people he loves?
Denki has many qualities that would make him a good Chunin, but physical strength isn’t one of them. Will he be able to handle a one on one fight?
Furthermore, fans have been anticipating some Code/Kawaki action for some time now. Hopefully, the following episode will deliver.

Episode 222 of Boruto will be released as per schedule. No delay has been announced.
Episode 221 Recap
The episode begins with the Chunin exams being held to evaluate the defense capabilities of the villages. Only teams with individuals who have scored more than an average of 70 points would qualify for the next round.
A kid gets caught cheating using the clone jutsu. It’s difficult to understand why someone would think it’s wise to have your clone write answers while sticking to the ceiling of the same room and surrounded by aspiring and actual ninjas. That is a question for another day.
Results are announced, and both Boruto and Denki are happy to have qualified for the next test. Boruto later shares an awkward first meeting with Kawanami Kaito, someone who seems too friendly.
The 26 students who qualified are instructed on their second test. Each individual is to go into the forest filled with life-threatening monsters, rescue their “subordinate,” of which there are only ten, and come back in one piece in 45 minutes.
Many get hurt by monsters, and many are fooled or defeated by “enemies.” Boruto manages to find a subordinate within time, but as he tries to make it back, he gets caught in Kawanami’s web.
He tries to take Boruto’s subordinate and leave, but the subordinate, a Chunin, sets Boruto and herself free. Kawanami gets injured, and Boruto cannot just leave him there.
Boruto is unable to make it back in time because he is carrying two people to safety. But he makes the Chunin finalist list because of his sense of responsibility.
In the end, Naruto announces the final test, which will be a one-on-one battle, where the ten finalists will fight each other.
