Boruto: Naruto Next Generations chapter 53 was a rollercoaster ride of one surprise after another. Isshiki is defeated for sure, but at what price?
Also, let’s not forget that this chapter is written by Masashi Kishimoto himself and he is back with a bang!
The chapter was truly one of a kind with epic battles and decisive moments taking place. Isshiki is left with just 5 minutes of his life span. So who kills him?
Due to Naruto’s continuous attacks in the Baryon mode, Isshiki was left with only 5 minutes of his lifespan. He soon realizes that he needs to act quickly before he dies. Thus he summoned Kawaki so he could plant another karma in him.
As soon as Kawaki falls smack in the middle of the battlefield, both Naruto and Sasuke desperately try to save him.
However, Isshiki smashes Naruto, and as soon as he steps on our hero, his Baryon mode dies down. He is left feeling weak and powerless.
Isshiki then quickly moves and grabs Kawaki, but he soon realizes that it’s just Sasuke.
Sasuke had switched places with Kawaki right before Isshiki was about to plant the karma. Sasuke then throws a smoke bomb at Kawaki which proves useful.
The smoke bomb was made of materials that blocked the clairvoyant powers of Isshiki. Isshiki threatens that if Kawaki doesn’t show himself in 20 seconds, Naruto will be dead.
As soon as Kawaki shows himself, Isshiki implants the karma. Soon Ishhiki’s form starts crumbling down but the marks of karma on Kawaki disappear. Another Kawaki reveals himself from the smoke.
Kawaki explains that he had used the shadow clone jutsu to make a clone of himself. It is hard to believe that the simplest of jutsu was the one that defeated Isshiki.
Throwback to the first time Naruto used the clone jutsu, we have come a long way since yet, it is the basics that ultimately saved the day.
Isshiki slowly breaks down (literally) and all that is left of his body is ashes. The Otsutsuki who seemed almost impossible to kill was defeated by sheer willpower, determination, and through acts of selfless sacrifice.
However, the biggest surprise of all is Boruto who had turned into Momoshiki again.
