Being the successor of a decade-long, super-hit manga with a title as esteemed as one of “Big Three,”the Boruto manga invoked a lot of expectations. Hence, Boruto manga started with a lot of disdain from the audience since it didn’t live up to Naruto’s hype.
However, as the chapters passed and the story progressed, Boruto started picking itself up to the fan-base it has today, by one underlying philosophy, “We have achieved the peace that Naruto longed for! “
The manga is in its Kara arc at the moment, and chapter 48 came out last month – we saw the epic fight between Jiraiya and Kashin Koji.
Like every epic fight-chapter ever, this one ended with a mic-drop moment – Isshiki Ohtsutsuki is now in Konoha! It’s time to discuss the release date, scans, and other details for chapter 49 of the manga.

2. Chapter 48 Release Date & Highlights
Chapter 49 of the Boruto: Naruto Next Generations manga has been released on Thursday, Aug 20, 2020. The chapter title has not been leaked yet.
In the next chapter, we will likely see the destruction caused by Jigen (Isshiki Ohtsutsuki) in the Konoha village. At the same time, Naruto and Sasuke will try to run for Kawaki’s survival.
3. Chapter 49 Speculations and Predictions
The way I see it, even the words “pretty freakin’ awesome,” fell short in front of how epic the past few chapters were. From revealing Koji’s true identity to explaining how to defeat an Ohtsutsuki, Boruto manga showed us EVERYTHING!
But, with so much information, there are a lot of ways chapter 49 can take. Today, I will delve into the two major ones out of many others.
I. Nagato Returns! (Kidding…It’s Isshiki)
This title may look like a joke, but it’s hard to ignore the resemblance between Isshiki Ohtsutsuki hovering right above the Konoha village when compared with the time Pain (Nagato) attacked.
The mighty and arrogant god will likely pursue to annihilate the Konoha village completely. On top of that, if Naruto and Sasuke decide to run, there is no stopping him.
II. Naruto and Sasuke’s Response
With Isshiki standing right at Konoha’s gates, Naruto and Sasuke have only two options – run or fight.
If I know my heroes correctly, they are most certainly not a part of the Plan Run. However, the situation, as things are, looks grim. If they run, they may or may not save Kawaki’s life, but it will mean throwing Konoha intro the fire 100%.
On the other hand, if they don’t run, it is unlikely they will be able to beat Isshiki Ohtsutsuki. While they could have defeated him in the other dimension if not for Isshiki’s surprise jutsu, now, they don’t stand a chance against fully resurrected Ohtsutsuki.
What do you think will Naruto and Sasuke do? Fight or run?
4. Is Boruto manga on a Break?
No, chapter 49 of the Boruto Naruto Next Generations manga is not on a break this month. It will be released as per its monthly schedule in a couple of days.
5. Chapter 48 Recap
Chapter 48, titled “Time Limit,” continues right from chapter 47’s final panel – we see Kashin Koji trying to defeat Isshiki Ohtsutsuki. Even though Koji had the upper hand back when Isshiki didn’t have the control of Jigen’s body, all hope seems lost now.
Koji tries various attacks, from Jiraiya’s signature hair-based jutsu to Katon bombs and whatnot, but cannot harm the god.
Back in Konoha village, Amado explains how Koji lacks the power to defeat Isshiki and is just a decoy in Amado’s plot. We see Koji using the sage mode but coming short.
Koji tries a trick attack but is overpowered by Isshiki’s Sukuna Hakona. Isshiki explains how he plans to take his revenge on Amado while Koji is lying under the rubble.
The chapter ends with Isshiki entering Konoha’s air-space just like Pain (Nagato) back then and Amado suggesting Naruto and Sasuke run with Kawaki.
