Being a sequel of an iconic manga which is one of the “Big Three,” Boruto: Naruto Next Generations’ manga was off to a shaky start for sure.
However, the manga has started to establish itself, starting from the recent Kawai and Kara arcs with its brand new antagonist — Jigen, the leader of the Kara organization.
The Kara raised many questions, one of which was recently answered — What is the true identity of the man named Jigen? What’s his relation with Ohtsutsuki Isshiki?
Chapter 46 of Boruto: Naruto Next Generations, titled “True Identity,” was released recently and looks like we have an answer to that question. There is no Jigen, not anymore. It has been Isshiki all along.
Confused, right? Read on, you are going to like what you see!
Truth about Jigen’s Identity
Kaguya & Isshiki Ohtsutsuki
Amado reveals that hundreds of years ago when Kaguya Ohtsutsuki descended on Earth, she didn’t come alone. Kaguya’s partner of that time was Isshiki Ohtsutsuki.
After living with humans for a long time, something changed Kaguya’s mind. Was it the greed of having the Chakra Fruit all for herself? Or was it a newfound love for her human companion? — nobody knows.
What we do know is that Kaguya Ohtsutsuki then betrayed Isshiki, attacked him and left him fatally wounded.
Jigen and Isshiki
Isshiki, who was now on the brink of death, managed to find a weak and unfortunate disciple, Jigen. While Isshiki’s original plan was to transplant his karma seal into Jigen, he had too little strength to do so.
So, he used his signature jutsu, “Sukunahikona,” to shrink his body and infiltrate Jigen’s brain through his ear. After which, Isshiki kept whispering to Jigen and course Jigen’s outlook towards Isshiki’s motives and simultaneously took nutrients from Jigen’s body.
Somewhere along the line Isshiki restored his strength and put his karma seal on Jigen, which in turn revived Isshiki back into Jigen’s body.
If you are wondering “How did Isshiki revive himself? What exactly is the true ability of karma seal?” — these questions were exclusively answered in this chapter only. I have explained it thoroughly for you guys in the link below.
