The latest episode of Boruto finally unleashed Kara’s Joker, Deepa, and the cold-blooded killer proves to the elite ninjas just how brutal he can be.
So far, the focus has been on Jigen lecturing the lackeys in an underwhelming debut.
However, if you’ve read the manga, you know the group has quite a few influential individuals who’ll be giving both Naruto and Sasuke a run for their money.
Interestingly enough, there’s a member created exclusively for the anime by the name of Deepa.
From the onset, given his look and overall love for chaos, it’s clear he’s the franchise’s answer to DC’s Joker.
The Boruto anime took some time to introduce Kara. Admittedly, when the terrorist cell came to light it did feel a bit underwhelming.
However, things have become exciting as they’ve sent their Joker, Deepa, out to the Land of Silence to recover the Hashirama Cell. Given his maniacal disposition, he’s been worth the wait.
Deepa was spotted gliding through the Land of Valleys in earlier episodes. Still, because he wore the iconic black Kara hood, he remained obscure.
Now, when Victor, a medical tycoon, looks into the Hashirama Cell, we see just how much Deepa loves anarchy and why his attitude makes him similar to the Clown Prince of Crime from the Batman universe.
Victor lost employees on a scientific mission, which led the wily Boruto and Team 7 to investigate Konoha.
They’ve tracked the Hashirama Cell’s disappearances and its sale on the black market, taking them to the Land of Silence where thugs and terrorists trade weapons.
It turns out Queen Sakuya is looking at the DNA to restore her youth, not realizing it could poison her and others who aren’t compatible.
But while Boruto and Co. try to infiltrate to get it back, Victor’s been spying using surveillance footage on the group.
Now, as Boruto’s Team 7, recently framed for murder, meets up Omoi and his lightning-ninjas, Deepa shows them what he’s worth.
Boruto’s squad heads off to chase the poison ninjas that stole the cell, with Omoi confident his team could take Deepa out.
Mind you, they know nothing of Kara and think he’s an average ninja, but his speed shocks them as he’s even faster than them.
Boruto is a spin-off and a sequel to Masashi Kishimoto’s Naruto, which follows the exploits of Naruto Uzumaki’s son, Boruto Uzumaki, and his ninja team.
