Prepare to say goodbye to the jumpy high-energy music in Boruto anime. As the show takes a bleak turn, the vibe must be complemented with appropriate music.
The Boruto anime has featured big artists like KANA-BOON and Ikkimonogatari. Given how big the show is, the caliber of the artists featured is not surprising.
While the music till now has been great, the incoming tone shift in the show doesn’t quite match the vibe of current music. To avoid this future hiccup, they have brought in just the right people.
Weekly Shonen Jump Issue 28 has revealed that the Boruto anime will receive an opening theme by CHiCO with HoneyWorks and an ending theme performed by PELICAN FANCLUB.
Both of these are set to debut in July when the anime enters its next arc.
CHiCO with HoneyWorks has previously contributed to anime like Haikyuu, Gintama, and most recently, Edens Zero.
While they can make hype music, they have shown to be able to create more somber tones. Their previous experience with Naruto Shippuden doesn’t hurt either.
While PELICAN FANCLUB is comparatively new to the scene, they have proven the quality of their music by their contributions to Dr.Stone and Fire Force.
Like every other sequel before it, Boruto anime has received comparisons with its predecessor. While the show takes a more slice-of-life approach than a standard shonen one, a few people were disappointed as they expected a reskinned Naruto instead.
While the plot preferences may be dividing, one thing that both sides could agree on is the quality of Boruto’s music and its animation. That said, the upcoming rock shift will probably please all fans, considering what’s about to come in the next arc.
