Yatora met Ryuji and found he didn’t get through his exam. Ryuji’s parents were unhappy with how he gave up on art school and spent his time goofing around.
Ryuji told Yatora how he’s a model student and would not risk it all for the sake of someone. Yatora called Ryuji in the end, and they both set off to visit the beach.

As Yatora experiences new art styles and techniques, he’s very close to reaching his goal of getting into Tokyo University of the Arts. We finally got a Ryuji episode, and I’m happy with how it was portrayed.
Yatora is concerned about Ryuji as he prepares for the next exam as well. What will Yatora and Ryuji uncover with this unexpected trip? How will the events play out for him to face the exam? His development has been immense since the series started.

Episode 10 of the Blue Period anime has been released on Friday, Nov 26, 2021. The episode title or preview has not been shown.

Episode 9 Recap
This episode starts with Kuwana, Hashida, and Yatora at the cram school after passing the first art exam. Mrs. Ooba congratulates them on passing and mentions there are five days left before the second exam.
She tells them that if anything is bothering them, they can have a one-on-one chat with her. Yatora then has a talk with Mrs. Ooba about colors which is bothering him. Mrs. Ooba mentions since the first exam is over, he sure can try colors.
Yatora explains what bothers him while using colors and feels his coloring is bland. Mrs. Ooba tells him about how coloring is a complex and deep topic. She mentions the different ways one can use colors to create many possibilities.
She then tells Yatora about how artists identify with good and bad colors by paying attention to each individual color. Realizing he didn’t look at the colors closely, Yatora decides to check on it. As Yatora goes to an art store, he meets Ryuji and gets startled with his looks.
At the store, they talk about Ryuji’s rejection from Japanese Art school. After getting supplies, Ryuji mentions how he’s quit art for good. Back at the cram school, Yatora wonders about Ryuji’s reasons for quitting art.
Yatora understands everyone gets to make choices, and Ryuji made his choice. Figuring out the colors, he starts to pay closer attention and knows he’ll make the right choice. As Yatora leaves, he comes across Kuwana and her friend.
The girl mentions how Ryuji just made an ‘X’ mark in the exam and left. Yatora gets stunned after hearing it. Later, Yatora calls Ryuji and talks about what he heard and is concerned.Ryuji tells him if he’s so worried, meet him right now, to which Yatora replies he can’t
Ryuji then tells how Yatora is a model student and won’t risk drowning to save someone. He states that if all Yatora does is hide while trying to console him, he has nothing to say. At Ryuji’s house, his parents are unhappy with Ryuji’s behavior.
They mentioned how they let him do anything because he wanted to be an artist. Ryuji’s grandma gives him some tea and knows he can try again with the exam next year. Knowing only his grandma is friendly to him, Ryuji says he’ll do his best even though he has given up already.
Yatora is bothered by Ryuji’s situation at cram school when he needs to concentrate on the next exam. Later Ryuji finds his room empty and questions his parents. His dad hits him and tells him he has the right to make things normal.
As Ryuji sulks in his room, his grandma brings some art supplies that were thrown away and tells him he’ll need them. Ryuji steps out and gets a call from Yatora and tells him he wants to meet. Yatora states he doesn’t want to stress over Ryuji too along with his exams.
Later they meet at the train station, and Yatora finds that Ryuji wants to go to the beach and drown. Yatora then tells him he’ll not drown and stay afloat as he needs to get back the next day by noon.
Ryuji is shocked as Yatora tags along with him. As Yatora enters the train, Ryuji enters with him, confused with the situation.

The Blue Period manga is created by Tsubasa Yamaguchi and published by Kodansha. It was first serialized in Afternoon magazine in June 2017.
The Blue Period revolves around the life of Yataro Yaguchi, a highschool student. Yataro looks like a model student on the outside but fights with hollowness on the inside.
He is fascinated by a painting of the Art club and decides to take up art as a profession. His path is filled with obstacles, but he still expresses himself proudly with colors instead of words.
