Episode 20 Recap
The match between Isagi’s and Itoshi’s teams began. Isagi and Barou stole the ball from Bachira due to their chemical reaction. Isagi then handed Nagi the ball, but Nagi needed help to pass Itoshi. As a result, he backheeled the ball to Chigiri, and Chigiri raced past Itoshi and Aryu to score the game’s opening goal.
As he started his link-up play with the top three, Bachira became enthused. The attack progressed without a hitch until Barou halted Tokimitsu’s motion.
Itoshi received the ball from Tokimitsu, who frequently faked shots to go past Nagi and Isagi while using Bachira’s decoy run as bait.
Isagi attempted to exploit his off-the-ball runs to enter an open position once the game resumed. But Itoshi managed to intercept the pass intended for him and scored the first goal for his team. The accomplishment enthused Nagi as he recognized that playing with Isagi made him feel pumped.
Nagi strengthened his determination and took advantage of Isagi and Itoshi’s mental duel to riot in the opposing field. He then exchanged passes with Isagi to move to the front of the net.
Itoshi used his two-stage fake volley to deceive Blue Lock’s top player as he arrived at his position, scoring a goal and bringing the score to 2-2. Itoshi quickly acknowledged that he was frustrated and energized after that.
About Blue Lock
Blue Lock is a Japanese manga series written by Muneyuki Kaneshiro and illustrated by Yusuke Nomura. It has been serialized in Kodansha’s Weekly Shōnen Magazine since August 2018. Blue Lock won the 45th Kodansha Manga Award in the shōnen category in 2021.
The story begins with Japan’s elimination from the 2018 FIFA World Cup, which prompts the Japanese Football Union to start a program scouting high school players who will begin training in preparation for the 2022 Cup.
Isagi Youichi, a forward, receives an invitation to this program soon after his team loses the chance to go to Nationals because he passed to his less-skilled teammate.
Their coach will be Ego Jinpachi, who intends to “destroy Japanese loser football” by introducing a radical new training regimen: isolate 300 young strikers in a prison-like institution called “Blue Lock”.
