Episode 8 Recap
Kuon is in the same room as Team Z as they express concern about the forthcoming match against Team V, which they must win to qualify. Isagi prevents some teammates from ganging up on him and explains that they need eleven guys on their squad to win.
In a flashback scene, we see that Reo is the son of a wealthy family and heir to a big corporation. Because he had all he needed, he felt his existence to be monotonous. Nevertheless, he later found the motivation to go against his parent’s wishes and win the World Cup.
When Nagi jumped down the staircase and grabbed his phone with his foot, Reo was struck by his agility and asked him to play football with him. Ego asserts and educates Team Z that only the formula can stabilize the team and ensure victories in a game full of uncertain situations and shifting opponents.
To win the game, one must transcend the realm of coincidences. They need to learn how to duplicate their goals. Isagi goes on to the field to find a formula and comes across Barou working out. The two get into a one-on-one contest, but Isagi finds it difficult to intervene as Barou comfortably scores from 20 meters.
Isagi discovers Barou’s secret to her prolific goal-scoring. He uses his remarkable body to hit shots with strength and accuracy from a particular field area. The match between Team Z and Team V gets underway.
Even though everyone is anxious, they are all determined to work hard to win this game so they may keep playing football together.
Isagi’s spatial awareness proves to be quite helpful in the opening stages of the contest, which goes in favor of Team Z. They have done their research and come up with a plan to combat Team V’s typical offensive style.
But when Reo and Nagi instantly alter their original strategy by copying Team Z’s, everything changes in a matter of minutes. Nagi amazes everyone with a goal after exhibiting fast speed and gaining control of a fast-moving ball.
About Blue Lock
Blue Lock is a Japanese manga series written by Muneyuki Kaneshiro and illustrated by Yusuke Nomura. It has been serialized in Kodansha’s Weekly Shōnen Magazine since August 2018. Blue Lock won the 45th Kodansha Manga Award in the shōnen category in 2021.
The story begins with Japan’s elimination from the 2018 FIFA World Cup, which prompts the Japanese Football Union to start a program scouting high school players who will begin training in preparation for the 2022 Cup.
Isagi Youichi, a forward, receives an invitation to this program soon after his team loses the chance to go to Nationals because he passed to his less-skilled teammate.
Their coach will be Ego Jinpachi, who intends to “destroy Japanese loser football” by introducing a radical new training regimen: isolate 300 young strikers in a prison-like institution called “Blue Lock”.
