2. Recap of Episode 1 of Blue Exorcist Season 4 Part 2

In Blue Exorcist Season 4 Part 2, episode 1, Rin gets a crash course in history—his own, no less—when he’s thrown forty years into the past. Right away, he bumps into a younger, scrappier Shiro Fujimoto, who’s far from the composed Exorcist Rin remembers. With Mephisto acting as his cryptic tour guide, Rin starts unraveling the story of Yuri Egin, a tough kid surviving the streets of Kyoto, trying to protect her family, and unknowingly setting the stage for events that will rock the future.

The episode pulls no punches with Yuri’s backstory. We see her tragic life take a turn when she crosses paths with Satan—before he’s even conscious of his power. Her home is obliterated, and her family is gone, leaving her alone in a brutal winter. Enter Shiro, who stumbles across Yuri in a makeshift hideout. Their initial meeting is rocky (he almost kills her!), but they eventually bond over a shared will to survive, huddling by a fire and finding fleeting warmth amid the chaos.

Things escalate when the Exorcists catch wind of Shiro, dragging him and Yuri to the Asylum—revealed to be the Exorcist Academy. Yuri dives headfirst into training, while Shiro’s arc takes a mysterious turn as he encounters Mephisto again. The episode closes on that meeting, leaving Rin—and us—teetering on the edge of some big revelations about the Blue Night and the people who shaped it.

3. Speculation of Episode 2 of Blue Exorcist Season 4 Part 2

Based on Blue Exorcist: The Blue Night Saga episode 1, it feels like Rin’s journey into the past is going to uncover some big truths about his family and the infamous Blue Night. The fact that Yuri and Shiro’s paths crossed with Satan before he was fully conscious might be where Satan’s obsession with Yuri begins.

Shiro’s younger self is another mystery worth keeping an eye on. He’s clearly a complicated character—wild, conflicted, and far from the cool mentor figure Rin knew. His interactions with Yuri and Mephisto could reveal how he became the Exorcist who raised Rin and Yukio. Plus, seeing him struggle with his non-human side might mirror some of Rin’s own inner battles.

There’s also the Exorcist Academy angle. With both Yuri and Shiro ending up there, it feels like the show might explore how the Academy shaped them and their relationship to the Blue Night. How did Yuri go from a homeless kid to someone who gets close to Satan? And what secrets are tied to Mephisto’s cryptic involvement? Rin’s time in the past could reveal how things came to be the way they are.

4. About Blue Exorcist

Blue Exorcist is a Japanese dark fantasy manga series written and illustrated by Kazue Katō.

In the Blue Exorcist Universe, there are two different realms called Assiah and Gehenna. Assiah is where ordinary humans live, and Gehenna is the world of demons. The only way to travel between the two worlds is by possession.

Satan, the ruler of Gehenna, decides to conquer Assiah, but to do so, he must possess a human. Unfortunately for him, he does not find a suitable vessel and hence, sends his own son, expecting him to grow into a suitable vessel.

Rin Okumura, a regular teenager with quite a temper, has no idea that his actual father was Satan. Nor did he know about being a suitable vessel. However, after eventually discovering his fate, he decides to change it and joins an academy to train to become an exorcist so that he could foil Satan’s plans.
