Now that the exwires know about Izumo’s connection with the Illuminati, their approach to saving her will differ. Whether they’ll reach it in time is a whole other question. Dr. Gedoin is a morally uncompromising character, and he won’t stop at anything to achieve his goals. There’s a big possibility that Izumo will inherit the nine-tailed fox, but maybe she can control it instead of getting possessed by it like her mother.

We learn about what happened all those years ago that made Izumo into who she is today. The Kamiki family is a branch of the Inami family founded by an onmyoji who fought and sealed the nine-tailed fox. Since then, the head of the Kamiki family has been tasked with being the priestess and keeping the killing stone, the crystallization of the demon, in check.
Izumo has been isolated her whole life because she can see the spirits, and her family is the caretaker of the killing stone. On top of all that, her mother, Tamamo, was an odd character. Izumo and Tsukumo’s father avoided them ever since their birth, and after he acted cold to their mother because of them, the always-happy Tamamo started to change.
She started to despise her children more and more every day. Between all these ups and downs, the Illuminati contacted Izumo regarding their plans for the “Killing Stone.” Izumo didn’t pay much attention to them, but before leaving Mari Yoshida, one of their executives gave Izumo her card.
One day, disaster fell on them. The clouds in Tamamo’s heart gave the nine-tailed fox an opening, and it possessed her. The possessed Tamamo went on a rampage and started killing everyone in sight. When she attacked Izumo, Mike and Uke stopped her and gave Izumo a chance to escape.
Izumo contacted Maria, and the Illuminati came to her rescue. Maria genuinely wanted to help them and took them to the Illuminati facility. However, Dr. Gideon had different plans. As the days passed, he continued researching Tamamo for his goals and kept Izumo and Tsukumo as backups.
Upon learning about this terrible truth, Maria tried to help them. She put Tsukumo up for adoption and tried to escape with Izumo, but they got caught because of Izumo’s stubbornness. This resulted in Maria’s death, and Gedoin threatened Izumo to cooperate. This was the moment she decided never to trust anyone again.
