In episode 9 of “Blue Exorcist: Shimane Illuminati Saga,” titled “Help Me,” Rin faces his consciousness as he struggles to decide whether to kill these monsters who were once humans or let them be. He got caught up in a trickier situation when he had to fight his friend, Renzo Shima, who had turned his back on their friendship.

2. Episode 9 Speculation
Rin left the group back where they were and headed down with Shima alone, so Yukio and the exwires are searching for a way to reach Rin and Izumo. Izumo had given up all hope but hadn’t given up on her life yet; she planned to subdue the nine-tailed foxes’ spirit and gain enough strength to dominate everyone in the lab. Surprisingly, Izumo has inherited the spirit and still has her consciousness intact.
Rin has already come to save her, but now these two must get past the horde of zombies that Gedoin released. In the next episode, Izumo will likely gain control over the kyuubi’s powers and help Rin fight the zombies. However, even if they defeat Gedoin, their escape won’t be smooth since they’ll still have to deal with the rest of the Illuminati forces and, most importantly, Shima.
3. Recap of episode 9
After reuniting with the whole group, Rin faces a dilemma about whether to fight these monsters who were once human or run away. Before he could decide, Gedoin ordered Shima to bring Izumo to the lab. While he did that, Gedoin triggered a further mutation in the monster, making it more dangerous. Rin still couldn’t fight it, so he decided to run with the group.
As they were running away, Shiemi spotted Izumo, who was being taken to the lab. When Rin noticed this, he jumped to save her, but Shima got in the way. Rin still thought of Shima as his friend and couldn’t counterattack. He instead punched Shima in the face and tried to take Izumo away. To everyone’s shock, Izumo shook his hands off and went to the lab alone.
Shima attacked Rin again, and they both fell after the floor was blasted away. Rin told Shima to return with them there, but he said this was who he was. What Rin saw all this time was just a mask. Suddenly, the monster fell, too, and as Shima stabbed Rin with his staff, the monster swallowed him. Conversely, Izumo faced Gedoin and willingly joined the possession ceremony.
She wore the mask Gedoin invented for the possession and performed the divine dance to summon the nine-tails. Izumo swore she’d reign supreme over the spirit and make it bend according to her will. That way, she’d escape the facility and ensure Tsukumo’s safety. After the ceremonial dance, the nine-tailed fox started possessing her body, and the sudden surge of energy caught Izumo off guard.
After getting swallowed by the monster, Rin was even more frustrated when he could hear the voices of the humans who had been turned into monsters. He called for help, but unfortunately, no one but him could be of help there. Down at the lab, Izumo fought relentlessly as the spirit tried to break her consciousness. She tried to break free from its clutches and got the final push she needed from someone she knew very well.
Fighting his consciousness, Rin decided that killing these monsters would be the kindest thing to do to the humans they once were. He killed that monster and blasted his way into the lab. He punched Gedoin away and talked with Izumo, who told him it was already too late for her, and that Rin should run away with her mother. Gideon frantically called for Shima, and when he got no response, he let loose a horde of zombies in there.

Blue Exorcist is a Japanese dark fantasy manga series written and illustrated by Kazue Katō.
In the Blue Exorcist Universe, there are two different realms called Assiah and Gehenna. Assiah is where ordinary humans live, and Gehenna is the world of demons. The only way to travel between the two worlds is by possession.
Satan, the ruler of Gehenna, decides to conquer Assiah, but to do so, he must possess a human. Unfortunately for him, he does not find a suitable vessel and hence, sends his own son, expecting him to grow into a suitable vessel.
Rin Okumura, a regular teenager with quite a temper, has no idea that his actual father was Satan. Nor did he know about being a suitable vessel.
