Blizzard Shares an Update on Overwatch 2 Server Issues, Account Merge and More

Overwatch 2’s launch a few days ago has been nothing short of a disaster. With unnecessary security verification requiring phone numbers during the login process to matchmaking problem and account merging issues, the game could have had a better launch.

However, Blizzard seemed to have addressed some of the glaring issues like account merging and matchmaking problems etc., in the latest update. Blizzard has acknowledged that the players are frustrated with the state of the game and have provided an update regarding the issues.

The development team has stated that the account merging issues are being worked on and players should start seeing their full solutions in the game. Although, Blizzard confirmed that additional time may be taken for accounts to merge as many accounts are still in queue.

When it comes to the matchmaking system for Overwatch 2, Blizzard has stated that while users will have to wait before they get into a match, they are changing the system configuration in hopes of reducing the duration it takes to get into a match. Over the next weekend, the development team will keep an eye out on the matchmaking queues to find potential improvements.

Other issues such as black screens, game crashes, and users not getting access to the items they have purchased from the store have also been addressed and a fix will be deployed later today. Players have also voiced their frustration with the game’s design, deeming the sequel as not a big enough upgrade over the original game.
