The Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War anime is back for the Fall 2024 season, much to the anticipation of millions of fans worldwide. The first episode is out, giving us no space as it dives straight into the high-stakes final battle.
Yhwach’s true strength is revealed, and the fate of the Soul King is at risk; new surprises and alliances begin to unfold. Spoiler warning: Be prepared for a dramatic cliffhanger that could make your head spin!
1. Release Date of Bleach: TYBW Cour 3 Episode 2
The second episode of Bleach: TYBW Cour 3 will be released on October 12, 2024. It will be streamed on Hulu in the US and Disney Plus in Europe and other countries.
2. What happened in TYBW Cour 3 Episode 1?
The highly anticipated return of Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War in the Fall 2024 season resumes the epic showdown between the Gotei 13 and the remnants of the Quincy empire.
The TYBW Season 2 finale seamlessly transitions into Season 3, Episode 1. The series picks up from the last battle between the Royal Guard and the elite Quincy forces, including the Schutzstaffel, Jugram Haschwalth, Uryu Ishida, and their mighty leader, King Yhwach.
Episode 1 shows the face-off between the two enemy forces as the Royal Guard sacrifices three members to unleash their full power.
Senjumaru Shutara takes charge and uses her loom-based Bankai to deal heavy blows to the Schutzstaffel, Jugram, and Uryu. While this is happening, Ichibe Hyosube employs his Shin’uchi (a prototype bankai) to try and stop Yhwach by controlling the black color.
Unfortunately for the Soul King forces, despite their efforts, Quincy recovers. Yhwach and Uryu unleash their powers, and the momentum is back in their favor.
2. How was Yhwach’s true power unleashed?
One of the first episode’s most significant moments is when Yhwach reveals he has been fighting with his eyes closed. Yhwach’s power has not been detailed in TYBW until now.
Yhwach reveals that if he opens his eyes, he can unleash his full power and activate the ability – Almighty.
This power allows him to see and understand everything around him, making him omniscient and nigh invincible. After Yhwach defeats Ichibe, he resumes his advance toward the Soul King’s palace. This time, all of his power is unleashed to the world.
Our old friend, Uryu Ishida, uses his ability – The Antithesis, to trap Senjumaru in her Bankai and then defeats her by shooting a spirit arrow. Due to this, Schutzstaffel and Jugram are freed from their battle, and the elite Quincy team is allowed to regroup and prepare for their final confrontation with the Soul King.
Yhwach reaches the Soul King’s chamber and we see a monumental scene occuring. As Yhwach confronts the Soul King, he drives his sword through his chest, and the episode ends, leaving the audience with a cliffhanger.
Is the Soul King dead? Did Yhwach get what he desired? We cannot say for sure, but likely it’s not that simple. Yhwach probably knows this, too. Ichigo has not reached the Soul King’s chamber; without our hero, there can’t be a major story progression.
3. What will happen in Episode 2 of Bleach: TYBW Cour 3?
We expect the final battle to escalate further as Yhwach pushes closer to achieving his ultimate goal. With his true power, The Almighty, now fully unleashed, he becomes nearly unstoppable.
Ichigo and his team will likely arrive just in time to confront Yhwach before he can deal the final blow to the Soul King. However, they may face heavy resistance from the Schutzstaffel, Jugram Haschwalth, and Uryu Ishida, whose powers are also reaching their peak.
We might also see Ichigo unlocking new powers, possibly linked to his heritage, as he faces the overwhelming force of Yhwach.
Shunsui, the Head Captain of the Thirteen Court Guards, stares silently at the imprisoned Sosuke Aizen, the previous commander of the 5th Squad and, later, villain extraordinaire. This seems to hint at a possible alliance of Shunsui with the former villain.
Shunsui Kyoraku is desperate, and although Aizen forsook his humanity to side with Hollows due to the current predicament, Shunsui may have no choice but to enlist Aizen’s help against Yhwach, which would be interesting.
4. About Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War
Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War is the final arc of the Bleach franchise. It premiered on October 11, 2022, and its 52 episodes are streamed by Hulu.
The arc deals with Yhwach, the leader of the Quincies, who has declared war on the Soul Society. Ichigo and the Soul Reapers will face this despicable enemy.
Hollows and Soul Society residents are disappearing, and Ichigo needs to defeat Yhwach before he lays waste to the entire universe.
