Ichigo escapes the battlefield in episode 9 of Bleach: Thousand Year Blood War Cour 2, titled “Marching Out the Zombies.”

The Quincies search around for Ichigo, who managed to get out of the area thanks to Urahara. To stall time for his escape, Ikkaku and Yumichika try to hold off Giselle. Her specialty is reviving the dead as her zombies, and they are forced to face their comrades.

Captain Kurotsuchi reaches the area in the nick of time to save them both and brings reinforcements. Since he doesn’t want to kill his friends, he commands the Arrancars to do it.

Captain Kurotsuchi assumed he could sit back and relax while the Arrancars killed all the zombies, but the situation changed. Since Toshiro has been turned into a zombie by Giselle, their chances of winning have dropped severely.

This also raises the question of his death since he is a significant character. It is narratively unlikely that Hitsugaya would be killed so quickly, especially in a shounen anime like Bleach. Therefore, he was probably zombified while on the brink of death.

Regardless of whether he’s alive or not, the next episode will have Hitsugaya fight Captain Kurotsuchi along with the Arrancars.

However, it requires so much energy that only one shot will be possible. Yoruichi jumps in with a bunch of distortions that the Quincies created. Urahara figures that since the distortion needs a vast amount of energy to connect two worlds, it can be used in the cannon.

Ikkaku and Yumichika go on the offensive against Bambi since they’re endlessly bombarded with attacks. Giselle reveals that Bambi’s already dead, so there’s no point attacking a corpse. Captain Kurotsuchi comes in the nick of time to save them, lighting up the entire battlefield with his attire.

Giselle commands Bambi to attack, and Kurotsuchi flies away while calculating the mechanics behind the projectiles. He uses a Reishi Locking Device to halt the bomb’s explosion and counterattack Bambi.

Giselle reveals her army of zombies once Kurotsuchi assumes he won, and in turn, he introduces the Arrancars to take care of this fight. Although the zombies were of Squad 11 before they died, the Captain announces they are just enemies now.

As a last resort, Bambi calls out for zombie Hitsugaya to come out. Kurotsuchi had assumed the battle was won, but seeing Hitsugaya flips the tables.
