Marvel’s ‘Black Widow’: New IMAX Poster Shows Natasha’s Full Costume

An IMAX poster for Marvel’s much-anticipated Black Widow gives a full look at the lead character’s white battle costume.

The upcoming MCU film has been in the works for many years and will finally be released on July 9 simultaneously in theaters and on streaming service Disney+ via Premier Access. Ahead of its approaching debut, IMAX revealed a new poster on its Twitter account, which shows Agent Romanoff in her brand-new combat suit.

The poster is thoroughly stylized, putting Natasha front and center, and perfectly contrasts her white suit against the red and black background of the web-like bridge she stands upon.

Her pose is also interesting as she can be seen staring at the ground, clearly looking exhausted and nearly defeated, with one of her weapons drawn while the other remains sheathed on her back.

It is nothing short of being reflective of Natasha’s long and tiring life before becoming an Avenger, which is what the movie will delve into.

Black Widow will see its titular hero travel back to her childhood roots and reunite with her adopted sister Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh) and adoptive parents Alexei Shostakov aka Red Guardian (David Harbour) and Melina Vostokoff (Rachel Weisz).

The movie will also introduce the Marvel comic villain Taskmaster, which is played by an undisclosed actor.

Pugh’s Belova has been seen donning a similar custom throughout all the promotional footage released so far, which could suggest that the outfit is perhaps a standard uniform for Red Room assassins.

Although the MCU has explored Black Widow’s history through the franchise’s first three phases, a standalone film will finally provide an in-depth look into the iconic character’s life.

Furthermore, it would also be fascinating to see how Black Widow plays into the current Phase Four since it is set between the events of Captain America: Civil War and Avengers: Infinity War. This makes its storyline irrelevant to the current MCU timeline, which takes place post-Endgame.

However, that’s not necessarily all bad as Romanoff’s time under the spotlight has been long overdue, and the movie will champion her story. The IMAX poster goes to solidify that factor by setting aside all other aspects and exclusively focusing on her and her alone, ready to take on her enemies.

It will be the first film in Phase Four of the MCU, and was delayed three times from an original May 2020 release date due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Disney confirms Marvel Studios’ Black Widow will release on Disney+ for no extra cost to existing subscribers after its Premier Access release, October 6.

The film follows Natasha Romanoff as she confronts the darker parts of her ledger when a dangerous conspiracy with ties to her past arises. Pursued by a force that will stop at nothing to bring her down, Natasha must deal with her history as a spy and the broken relationships left in her wake long before she became an Avenger.
