Adult Swim and Crunchyroll are back to revving up fans’ hearts with the trance-like opening sequence and a new poster of the highly anticipated animation, Blade Runner: Black Lotus.
The animated series has successfully piqued fans’ curiosities as it is revealed to be set in the events that lead to an apocalyptic world somewhere in 2032 between the original 1982 Blade Runner movie and its sequel, Blade Runner 2049.
Both the opening sequence video and the poster exhibit the same neon-vibe with a dark aesthetic, making sure that they don’t give too much and amp up the curiosity levels.
The poster shows Elle, the lead of the story and other characters that will appear in the series. With the futuristic-looking car, each character holding a weapon of their own, with intense expressions.
As for the opening sequence, it starts off with an upside-down angle of a car flying, then proceeds to show the dull nightscape of Los Angeles, with a character’s silhouette, a black lotus and finally Elle showing up. The vibe of the video is eerily beautiful.
Not much of the story for Blade Runner: Black Lotus is given away, except that Elle is a female Replicant who is tasked with an unknown secret mission.
Jessica Yu Li Henwick will voice Elle, along with Stephen Root, Brian Cox and Wes Bentley, all of whom played important roles in the before-mentioned installments of Blade Runner. The series is directed by the popular Japanese directors Shinji Aramaki and Kenji Kamiyama.
Finally, all the fiction lovers will have a series from the perspective of Replicants and know what actually went down before Blade Runner 2049.
The series is expected to release at the end of this year, and will be streamed on both Crunchyroll with Japanese subtitles and Toonami with English subtitles.
About Blade Runner: Black Lotus
