The episode ended by drawing attention to the Spade Kingdom Invasion, and it seems the ruler there is planning some kind of evil conspiracy against the Clover Kingdom.

1. Episode 157 Speculation
As the training campaign progresses, Asta appears to grow stronger in his own way. Since his anti-magic power is like a trump-card in the fight against the devil, Spirit Guardian Gaja will take his training to the next level.
In the preview video, we get to see Gaja explaining to Asta about his anti-magic powers. The episode is titled “Five Leaf Clover,” which suggests that the episode may reveal something new about Asta’s five-leaf clover grimoire.
We also get to see Nero and Noelle, training hard under the supervision of queen Loropechika and Undine. Nero’s arcane stage and Noelle’s combative skills will be useful weapons in the upcoming battles, but they still need some polishing.

Episode 156 can be broken into two parts, the action-filled first part and the story-driven ending. We are gradually heading towards the most-awaited ‘Spade Kingdom Arc.’
I. Training Sessions
Yami decides to train in his own way and perfect his Mana Zone technique. However, there aren’t many people who can withstand this lethal attack.
He finds Mereoleona sparring with some magical beasts in a region surrounded by volcanoes and challenges her for a fight to test if he could take his Mana Zone a bit further.
Despite it being a friendly battle, none of them seem to be holding back. Yami concludes the battle quite abruptly, just when he realizes that his Mana Zone has improved considerably.
Meanwhile, back in the Heart Kingdom, the Magic Knights are training hard to master the Mana Method, where the users draw mana from nature.
Gaja is sparring with Asta to gauge his strength, thereby allowing Asta to work on his techniques. Asta appears to grow stronger, but his lack of vision prevents him from using his anti-magic powers’ full extent.
Gaja suggests Asta to use his anti-magic in a way similar to how wizards allow magic to flow through them. Asta lets anti-magic flow through his Demon-Dweller sword and thereby manages to hit Gaja with his anti-magic.
II. Spade Kingdom Conspiracy
The ending of episode 156 takes us to the Spade King Garrison, where the wizards are preparing for the invasion. It seems that the preparations are almost over, and they are all set to launch their attack on the Clover Kingdom.
A band of rebels plans to escape past the Spade Kingdom border and enter the Clover Kingdom along with some classified information regarding Spade Kingdom’s Conspiracy.
The rebels were soon surrounded by the Spade Kingdom military and were captured. However, one of them, named Ralph, manages to escape through the border and recklessly dives into the deadly strong-magic region.
One of the wizards reports this incident to the Spade Kingdom ruler, who doesn’t seem to be concerned about this escape at all. He looks confident with his plans’ success, and his devilish laughter resonates with his evil intentions.
