Noelle was having a friendly fight with Asta when Yami, Finral, and Gordon suddenly showed up. Yami takes them to the Castle Town Kikka to show them this year’s Magic Knights Entrance Exam.
This brings back memories from the day Asta got selected for Black bulls. Once again, Asta gets chased by anti-birds, who gather around people with little mana.
Noelle meets Nozel, who reminds her that it has been a year since she has joined, and she has grown much already. We get to see flashbacks from Noelle’s entrance exam when Nozel stopped her from giving the exam.
But now Noelle understands that it was his brother’s kindness, trying to save her from the battlefield. She thanks him for putting her in Black Bulls Squads, which gave her a precious family.
The Magic Knights appear, and the entrance exam begins with Captain William’s speech.
Watching the participants compete, Asta and Noelle praise each other for improving so much in a year. However, Captain Yami didn’t recruit any new members for his squad this year.
Later at night, when the entrance exam is over, Willaim gives Yuno back his pendant, which he had lost on the day he got his grimoire. Both Asta and Yuna vow that they will be even stronger and become the Wizard King someday.
