Chapter 278 of Black Clover shows a shocking new Devil Union form of Nacht. He had already bowled us over with his past form while training Asta and Liebe, but it seems like he has more weapons up his sleeve.
The battle against the Dark Triad has started, and the current chapter focuses on Dante vs. Nacht and Jack the Ripper, captain of the Green Mantis squad. With Dante’s upgraded form, defeating him is more challenging than before.
Chapter 278 starts with Dante recovering from Jack’s lunatic slash. He claims that nothing other than Anti-Magic can harm him. However, Nacht already has a plan in his mind.
- Devil Union Mode: Equus
Dante activates his Gravity magic, which slams both Nacht and Jack to the ground.
Nacht summons one of his devils, Slotos, to enter his shadow. He then activates his new form, Devil Union Mode: Equus. This mode gives him an impenetrable armor whose characteristic is toughness.
Dante is pleased that there is another devil host other than Asta and taunts Nacht to entertain him. However, Nacht was quickly able to toss aside Dante when Jack was on the verge of being attacked.
Soon Nacht realizes that his form can withstand Dante’s attacks and can exchange blows, but he does not have the power to deal him mortal damage.
Nacht has only revealed the union forms with two devils till now. He still has two more forms up his sleeve. I am also curious to know if he can combine them all at once!
- Nacht’s Plan of Action
Nacht has already started mapping out how to defeat Dante, and his only way is to somehow make Jack attack. Jack has the power to slash through objects that cannot be cut.
He tries to get a rise out of Jack by humiliating him. He asks Jack if he is all talk and no action.
- Jack’s History and Power
Not much had been known about Jack until now except that he is the Green Mantis squad’s captain. In the latest chapter, Jack recounts his childhood as the son of a hunter.
His skill of producing blades was useful as a hunter, and he always hunted animals that he thought he could easily kill.
His father was killed by a monster when he was 13, and he, in turn, killed the beast. Jack now wants to fight stronger opponents and rip them to shreds.
Jack gets up from the ground with multiple blades protruding from his body. He slashes through gravity and attacks Dante with the intention to kill. His form makes Nacht realize that he may have underestimated Jack.
