To take the words from the famous shonen anime, Black Clover chapter 267 was quite “OVER THE TOP!,” so much so that I can’t wait to see what chapter 268 has in store for us.
Black Clover, by Yuki Tabata, is one of the hottest mangas these days. It is often believed to be a part of “New Big Three” alongside My Hero Academia and Boruto: Naruto Next Generations.
The 267th chapter felt like an actual roller coaster ride – it started with a glimpse of an exciting battle between Asta and AMD; and ended with a HUGE TEASE about Asta’s past and possibly, his mom.
In the next chapter, Asta will fight his devil and discover the truth about the woman he saw in his conscience, and I have some thoughts about how it will go.
Black Clover 268 Raw Scans
The raw scans and spoilers for chapter 268 of the manga have been leaked and the rough translation goes like this:
This chapter will be MINDBLOWING!!! It starts with the mysterious woman (Lichita) tending to the baby anti-magic devil who seems to have gotten himself hurt.
Her magic allows her to store manaless things into other manaless things (pretty handy if you ask me) – she also has the disease Henry does. Her body sucks out mana and life energy from everything around her. However, since AMD doesn’t have any mana, they seem to have met due to fate.
Lichita takes care of AMD as her own son and names him Ribe – apparently, she had a son (Asta) whom she had to give away due to the disease. At the end of the chapter, Lucifero appears and kills her.
While on the death bed, Lichita stores Ribe (AMD) into the five-leaf grimoire – cut to present, Ribe is angry with everyone and vows to kill every single devil.
Where to Read Black Clover
Chapter 268 Predictions
Chapter 267 ended with Asta facing off against his devil. In the next chapter, we will see whether Asta will seal a deal with the devil or not and who was the woman we saw at the end!
For those of you who don’t understand the significance of this chapter, let me put this in simpler words. Asta has grown a lot stronger, notable feats being the gigantification of the Demon Slayer sword, the ability to fly using anti-mana, and the defeat of Dante the King of Spade Kingdom.
Therefore, when Nacht said he would make Asta stronger, our imagination reached its height and there was nowhere else to go until now!
In this chapter, Nacht said that Asta has only been using the devil’s power which gets leaked out – this meant if he accesses the true power (,i.e., the contract), he will be unstoppable. In any case, this chapter could go one of the two ways:
1. Asta defeats the Devil!
We saw the AMD manifesting his body in the magic field but it is most certainly not his true body. I believe that it’s nothing more than a manifestation of pure anti-magic brimming in Asta’s right arm – which would explain the absence of Asta’s arm.
To form a contract with the Devil, according to Nacht the Know-it-All, Asta must defeat AMD and prove his mettle. If there is anything I know about Asta, it is that the little guy hates to lose. It is not foolish to say that Asta might defeat the devil using his Swords as he does have Licht’s sword magic after all and considering the devil is nothing more than a manifestation.
2. They call me the Devil for a Reason!
Even though it is a possibility, it’s still a long shot that Asta will be able to defeat AMD. On top of that, if he turns out to be a part of real AMD and not just a manifestation, well, let’s just say Asta is doomed.
On the other hand, Asta must become the ultimate warrior – he cannot do so unless he finds the binding contract. This does have a loophole – Asta’s goal is the binding contract and not the devil’s defeat.
I believe the devil will let him form the contract for three important reasons:
- The battle and contract are interrelated because the other devils won’t form a contract this easily, but Asta’s is different than others.
- Time and time again, AMD has shown keen interest in Asta’s adventures and has helped him for his own amusement; also, nobody except the manaless Asta can use AMD’s grimoire.
- AMD hates Lucifero just as much as Asta hates Dante!
- AMD has a connection with Asta through the mysterious woman.
3. The Ultimate Magic!
I know I know! It has nothing to do with Asta’s battle with the devil but you have to admit, you cannot not talk about the Ultimate magic.
Even though the Noelle-squad survived Vanica’s devastating spell, we know they are not nearly strong enough to go head-to-head with the menacing devil, let alone beat her, especially considering the strength Yami and Asta had to unleash to defeat Dante.
However, if the leader of elves says he can, I believe him! As to what this special and known-to-a-few magic spell, Ultimate magic, is – I have a considerable theory.
We know how much elves are loved by mana, and the power brought upon by natural mana has been shown on many occasions around Gaja, Lolopechka, and even Licht himself.
Therefore, just like Mana Skin had an upgrade (Mana Zone), Ultimate magic will likely be a much-advanced form of using natural mana and creating arrays.
Chapter 268 Release Info
It is published under Shonen Jump magazine, a weekly magazine that comes out every Sunday. Black Clover manga is not on a break this week and will be released as per schedule.
Chapter 268 of the Black Clover manga has been released on Saturday, Oct 17, 2020 at 9:30 am PDT. The chapter title has not been leaked yet.
Chapter 267 Recap
Chapter 267, titled “The Devil-Binding Ritual,” starts with Asta’s devil taking a materialistic form and appearing in front of him. While AMD insists on getting the fight started, Asta thanks him first for all the help he’s been in difficult times.
AMD tells him it won’t matter after the former will kill Asta, then he calls forth the anti-magic grimoire and pulls out Demon Slayer sword to attack Asta.
Nacht informs Asta that if he loses, his mind will be taken over by the devil – to which Asta replies that if this ritual borders on forbidden magic then they shouldn’t be doing it in the first place!!! Nacht aptly replies with his own version of “desperate times call for desperate measures.“
Nacht then tells Asta that if he keeps his shenanigans like this, AMD will kill him. Asta shocks everyone by saying, “No! He won’t kill me.” Both Nacht and AMD are shocked by Asta’s declaration.
Asta then says that,
Just because you’re a devil, doesn’t necessarily mean they’re a bad guy!!! After all…you aren’t a bad guy.
The chapter ends with the devil thinking about a woman very similar to Asta in terms of looks.
