Black Clover 309: Yuno Goes Head To Head With Zenon With Star Magic

Since the beginning, Black Clover has given us some great fights. Although a few characters have garnered the spotlight for themselves after a difficult battle, this was hardly ever the case with Yuno.

He has either completely outclassed his opponents or shared the spotlight with someone else in the aftermath of a difficult battle. In his revenge match against Zenon, Yuno finally gets the fight he deserves.

In chapter 309, it is revealed that Yuno’s second grimoire grants him the ability to use star magic. This magic is passed down through the generations in Spade Kingdom’s royal family.

This allows him to go toe to toe with someone as overpowered as Zenon, possessing dual magic attributes: his bone magic and Beelzebub’s spatial magic. Yuno uses his newly acquired star magic to teleport between the stars and counter Zenon’s spatial magic.

Although he manages to damage Zenon, he quickly recovers, and now both are at their most powerful and ready to take off each other’s heads.

The impressive magic use and aesthetics aren’t the only things that make this fight so good. As different they might seem, Yuno and Zenon are fighting for similar things.

Yuno is fighting to avenge and protect his squad as the vice-captain. His strong sense of duty allows him to keep surpassing his limits. Twisted and ruthless as he might be, Zenon too fights with a strong sense of duty towards the Spade Kingdom.

Also, both of them have their rivals which have deeply influenced them one way or the other. Interestingly, Allen and Asta look and feel very similar for it to be a coincidence, but that is a discussion for a different day.

Will Yuno be able to overcome Zenon with his newly acquired power? Or will Zenon prevail once again?
