Black Clover chapter 299 was short but packed with intense scenes. From Megicula’s insane powers to Gaja’s sacrifice, the chapter has left me truly shocked!
However, the biggest question here is: Has Gaja actually done any damage? Or was his sacrifice in vain? Megicula was able to strip Noelle of Saint Stage. Yes, Gaja is one of the most powerful guardians ever, but is he powerful enough for this crafty devil?
Megicula’s Decaying World power has spread through their surrounding area, making it impossible to escape. She even claims that no one will be able to save them now.
Gaja summons his ultimate lightning magic with every last bit of power that he had and attacks Megicula. He swears to himself: “I’ll convert my very life into magic.”
His attack is so intense that Megicula belatedly realizes that her Decaying World power cannot fully erase it. It shows Megicula’s decaying form exposing her one weakness, the heart.
Noelle is sharp enough to notice this and prepares for a final attack with whatever power she can muster. When the haze clears, we can see Gaja’s body standing still with injuries all over.
However, the question still remains whether Megicula has retained any damage or not. Killing Megicula can be out of Gaja’s league, but he might have at least injured her.
Although the sound shape of Megicula that can be seen on the last page of the chapter is telling another story altogether. I am hoping that Tabata sensei is not cruel enough to sacrifice Gaja’s life in vain.
Gaja’s death is unconfirmed. Only chapter 300 can reveal whether Gaja has actually sacrificed his life or not. The amount of power he has used has clearly taken a toll on him while leaving him looking like a husk.
His attack helped open a hole in the walls, and there is a possibility of reinforcements entering through that hole. Asta is currently heading to Morris, and thus Charmy or Nozel might come to help.
Nozel and Noelle’s shared history with Megicula is what makes it even more likely for him to show up.
Will Noelle be able to strike Megicula at her weakest, or is the devil just starting to show her true form? Chapter 300 will be a special one, and we can only hope that Megicula can be defeated in it, once and for all.
