The wait for Black Adam is finally coming to an end! The DCEU film featuring the anti-hero’s debut has garnered the attention of many a fan, and WB Pictures is milking it for all its worth. The studio released a second trailer for the film a month prior to its release on October 21, 2022.
The film documents the rise of a slave killed five thousand years ago, reborn as a god. When freed from his prison, the superpowered hero goes on a rampage, and it lies with the JSA to either put him down or recruit him to be the world’s savior.
The movie stars The Rock in Black Adam’s shoes, joined by cast members Pierce Brosnan as Doctor Fate, Noah Centineo as Atom Smasher, Aldis Hodge as Hawkman, and Quintessa Swindell as Cyclone, forming the Justice Society of America. Sarah Shahi, Marwan Kenzari, and Viola Davis also star in the film.
The first trailer for the film dropped in June 2022 and fans got a spectacular view of the hero that kneels before none. The action and story raised fans’ standards and expectations, and Johnson and the cast have promised to live up to them.
The second trailer dropped on YouTube on September 9, 2022, with new footage featuring Johnson’s Black Adam admitting that his powers are not a gift but a curse born out of rage.
The trailer opens with Black Adam reliving his son’s sacrifice and his rebirth from death as a god. A team of armed civilians attacks the anti-hero, and he uses his super strength and speed coupled with electrokinesis to lay waste to them.
Viola Davis’ Amanda Waller is back, and she is tasked by Hawkman, the leader of the JSA, to find a cell strong enough to hold Black Adam. “We’ll take care of the rest,” promises Hawkman.
The trailer introduces the Justice Society, who implore Black Adam to “peacefully surrender,” to which the anti-hero simply replies, “I’m not peaceful. Nor do I surrender.” The trailer then breaks into a series of clips where the JSA fights against Black Adam, promising some great superhero fights with memorable scenes.
Sarah Shahi’s Isis nails the truth behind Black Adam’s return as she states that he is not back for justice but “to exact revenge.” Black Adam calmly replies that he never claimed to be “a hero.”
According to Doctor Fate, the morally gray hero will be forced to choose between two paths—to be the world’s destroyer or savior. While Brosnan’s character describes Black Adam’s fate in the background, the trailer showcases some spectacular action scenes coupled with superhero fights, highlighting the epic showdown which will follow in the film.
The trailer has fans on the edge of their seats, waiting in anticipation of the film’s release on October 21. Will Black Adam choose to be a villain, hero, or neither, making his own rules? Mark your calendars for the grand entry of the DCEU’s badass anti-hero.
