Bikkuriman is a line of wafer snacks produced by Lotte, notable for the randomly assorted bonus stickers included inside each snack. First released in 1977, Bikkuriman became wildly popular in Japan.
The original Bikkuriman anime series, created by Toei Animation, aired from October 11, 1987, to April 2, 1989. The anime became an instant hit and gained a large following, leading to the creation of several sequels and spin-offs, as well as merchandise such as toys and video games.
Fans should rejoice because something sweet is on the way this year, as it was announced tonight that the previously announced original TV anime Bikkurimen, based on Lotte’s Bikkuriman line of chocolate, will premiere in the fall anime season. Along with the premiere season, a teaser video featuring the main cast members was released.
Bikkuri-men‘s “completely new original story” will feature the characters Prince Yamato and Saint Phoenix being reincarnated in the modern era.
The original work is credited to Lotte, and it has previously been announced that Shaman King manga creator Hiroyuki Takei is drafting the original characters.
