Best Must-Watch Isekai Anime Series

Let’s talk about isekai today. It has become one of the top watched genres in the history of anime. Every other day you will find a new isekai manga or anime series being adapted, and it gathers a huge crowd. I’m a part of it. Yes, I am an isekai trash.

I mean, who doesn’t want to escape to a fantasy world filled with overpowered magic and build their harem? Isn’t that every otaku’s dream ever? So if you’re an isekai trash just like me or aspire to be one, you must watch these fantastic series. (Even if you aren’t, they are worth watching)

15. Cautious Hero

Goddess Ristarte is given the task of handling an S-class world, so she needs a great hero candidate. Luckily she finds the perfect one, and all his stats are beyond exceptional.

Ristarte was so excited that she missed a critical detail in his character description ‘extremely cautious’. He’s the type who would buy the main armor, a spare one, a second spare, and another one just in case.

Personally, I absolutely love this show, and it’s so underrated despite its brilliance. I highly recommend this one.

14. Drifters

Legendary warriors throughout the history of Earth are transported to a fantasy world. These soldiers, now known as Drifters, are given the task to fight against those who wish to take over the world known as Ends. Ends have collected an army of all mystical monsters ready to attack. Going against them will be no easy task.  For people who are interested in history, war and fantasy, this anime might just be your jam.

13. Grimgar

The start of Grimgar might seem familiar to Maze Runners as the protagonists are teleported to an unknown world, but the catch here is they don’t remember who they are, except their names.

In a kill or be killed world, they are left alone to fight monsters and keep the town safe. It would be marvelous if our main characters were overpowered with cheat skills; however, that’s not the case. Isekai Gds didn’t bless them. They slowly learn to adapt and depend on each other.

12. The Devil Is a Part-Timer!

Now, this is the anime that you need to watch at least once in your life. The infamous demon lord Satan was inches away from conquering the world, but boom, he’s teleported to modern-day Japan along with his aides. Not even magic can save them from day to day struggles of capitalism and exploitation. The situation becomes even more comical when his enemy, the hero, is also in Japan.

11. Re: Zero

Join Subaru on his exciting adventures of eternal doom, tragedy, and sadness. Yeah, you heard me right; this isn’t the fluff anime you’re looking for. It’s going to make your mind completely disoriented.

This isekai takes a very turn. All the boy wanted to do was survive and make some friends, but it becomes unmanageable when you keep dying and reviving back. Subaru gets his harem but at the cost of max mental trauma. I know it sounds terrible, but you cannot back out once you start watching the show.

10. KonoSuba

KonoSuba is the troll anime you’re looking for. It’s basically a parody of isekai. Ever wondered what could go wrong in another world?

 Low-key power, useless goddess, unemployment, a masochist tank, explosive mage, we have all that in KonoSuba.

Trust me; even if you’re not an isekai fan, you must see this show. It will be worth every minute. KonoSuba is downright hilarious with its approach.

9. Overlord

Our hero is trapped in his favorite game as his in-game character Ainz. His years of hard work and gameplay made Ainz this overpower overlord skeleton. The NPC characters that he created came to life. Since everything was going too well for him, he decided to conquer the world.

8. Gate

Just imagine you’re sitting home chilling, eating your favorite food, but then a portal that connects to a fantasy world emerges. All sorts of monsters and otherworldly creators go on a rampage and wreak havoc in your peaceful life. Something similar happens in Gate when in modern-day Tokyo, a gate appears that turns fantasy into real life.

The government tries every means possible to safeguard their citizen. What will happen when in this hostile situation, an otaku soldier finds an elf girl?

7. Log Horizon

Log Horizon is based on an MMORPG theme. Thousands of players get trapped inside a world in their in-game avatar at the twelfth expansion pack of a popular game launch. This new world is similar to the game they played back in their original world.

They have no other choice but to fend off themselves by teaming up in this scary world. However, will these gamers be able to survive in the wild amidst the chaos and mayhem?

6. No Game No Life

It’s the same isekai concept but in a world where you don’t fight monsters and dragons but become the lord by playing games. The concept is pretty unique, and the anime is pretty compelling.

Shiro and Sora are the genius gamer siblings that were born to exist in this world. These kids are so talented that their gameplay will leave you baffled. You can’t take your eyes off the series, and it’s so aesthetically pleasing.

5. The Saga of Tanya the Evil

On the one hand, we have magical lolis, but here we have a militant loli who will blast off any obstacle that will come in between her ambitions.

Originally a male elite salaryman in his previous world, he started a beef with God. The entity reincarnated him as a little in the middle of a war, but that didn’t stop our protagonist from being a battle maniac.

4. The Rising of the Shield Hero

Shield hero is all about isekai going wrong. Naofumi, like other summoned heroes, is transported to save a kingdom from monsters. Each summoned hero is affiliated with special equipment. Although on the surface everything seems normal but something dark is happening in reality.

Naofumi later gets affiliated with the Shield equipment, and everyone’s opinion changes. He is betrayed and falsely accused, only to be despised by the entire nation. Naofumi cannot trust somebody again, so he leaves the nation to train alone.

3. So I’m a Spider, So What?

Other people become the long last saint who will save the world, but our heroine, as the title suggests, becomes a spider. However easy it may sound, it’s actually the opposite when the second you’re born, your spider-mum is out there to gobble you up and to survive, you must eat your spider sibling.

If you’re looking for fluff, this anime may not be the most appropriate one. Unlike other nonhuman isekai MC, she is a lone wolf, and to survive, she will make the most unconventional choice that’s possible.

2. Ascendance of a Bookworm

Our heroine lived her previous life as a bookworm, died as one, and now plans to live her next life as a reader, but the only issue is books are the rarest of them all. The world she reincarnated into doesn’t really dwell on the concept of books.

This anime is a top-notch slice of life content. The execution is pure beauty. You might see her as a selfish brat at the start of the series, but she slowly becomes sensible and mature, and I’m all in for the character development.

1. That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime

Are you tired from watching people hit by truck-kun and reincarnating as handsome people? This anime is just for you. He is not reincarnating as a man this time but as a handsome slime instead.

Our protagonist builds an entire monster kingdom from scratch. The show is honestly wholesome. We have an overpowered protagonist, good plot & art, beastfolks, petty humans, and it’s perfect. Check it out if you are yet to see TenSura.
