Remnant 2 features a variety of starting and unlockable Archetypes (or classes) to play with. But there’s a lot, so you might get confused as to which class is the best one. It’s worth noting that none of the classes are bad per se, but there are some that are more useful and stand out more than the others.
The best class in Remnant 2 is the Handler Archetype but here’s a ranked list of all 11 of them:
11. Explorer
10. Challenger
9. Summoner
8. Invader
7. Archon
6. Engineer
5. Alchemist
4. Hunter
3. Medic
2. Gunslinger
1. Handler
Archetypes in Remnant 2 are basically classes that have their own sets of skills, perks, abilities, etc. It ultimately depends on your playstyle and which Archetype suits you best. But if you’re not really sure about that, then read on below to know why the list is ranked that way.
11 Explorer
The reason why Explorer ranks last in the list is because it doesn’t really offer any offensive abilities as it’s a purely loot-based Archetype. It only makes searching for materials easier.
The fact that this Archetype has to be unlocked by beating the final boss and completing the main story doesn’t make it any better. It’s not particularly useless, but on the battlefield, it’s of no use.
10 Challenger
Challenger is a good melee-focused Archetype, and if you’re a fan of simply punching your way forward, then this is the class for you. The downside is that it’s mostly useful in close combat situations.
Although it’s mostly melee-based, this Archetype can serve as a good starting point for rookie players. But when you compare it to the other classes, they seem to have an edge over this simply because they’re not mostly melee-focused.
9 Summoner
The Summoner Archetype is pretty self-explanatory; it basically summons minions to aid you in battle. You can summon Hollows, Flyers, and a Reaver during combat at any given time (one minion at a time).
Even though the minions help and aid you in battle, they’re not that reliable since they have horrible AI. It’s also worth noting that calling any of the minions at any given time will deplete your HP, which is something you probably don’t need during tense situations.
8 Invader
This Archetype might not offer any offensive abilities, but it does provide good survivability on the battlefield. It has a wide range of tricks up its sleeve that can be extremely useful in combat.
It mainly involves creating decoys to confuse them while you prepare to attack them from somewhere else. Other than that, Untouchable is the unique trait that increases the invulnerability window when dodging.
7 Archon
Archon is the most recent class to be found in the game. It’s a support and utility-focused Archetype that deals mainly with weapon mods and mod power generation.
These mods can be very deadly when paired with the right build. But if you’re a rookie Remnant 2 player, then I don’t recommend choosing this as your Archetype, as it can be incredibly difficult to master if not done correctly.
6 Engineer
The Engineer Archetype has the ability to deploy heavy weapons like turrets, which track enemies nearby, and that can help you immensely. Not only that, but the heavy weapons can also be equipped as weapons.
The turrets come in various different modes, and they’ll be available as you level up this Archetype (flamethrower, impact blaster). Its abilities can be very deadly, especially when paired with your own firearm.
5 Alchemist
Alchemist is one of the best classes in Remnant 2, as it can be very useful for helping your teammates in battle and actively aiding them in need. Once unlocked, you’ll be able to use its various abilities.
Abilities like Vial: Stone Mist and Vial: Frenzy Dust add defence, improve melee speed, fire rate, and melee speed, and upon levelling them up fully, you’ll be able to unlock the Vial: Elixir of Life ability, which can revive teammates and restore HP.
4 Hunter
Hunter is mostly a stealth-based Archetype that mainly deals burst damage and exposes opponents’ weak points through precision shots. If you prefer stealth over assault, then this is the class for you.
Its basic skill is Hunter’s Mark, which shows the location of all nearby enemies while increasing damage and crit hit chance. As you level it up, more abilities like Hunter’s Focus and Hunter’s Shroud will unlock for precision shots and upgraded stealth, respectively.
3 Medic
The Medic not only it starts out with one of the best firearms in the game, but it also offers healing abilities that can massively turn the tide on the battlefield.
It’s extremely useful in both solo and co-op modes, as it provides healing abilities for both. The Wellspring ability can be used to heal yourself, while the Redemption ability can be used to revive others. These, along with other perks, boost both healing and damage.
2 Gunslinger
Gunslinger is all about shooting guns and looking badass. Ammo is a scarce resource in the game, but with this Archetype, you can just unload your entire magazine on enemies without thinking twice.
Its various perks, like Swift Shot, Bulletstorm, etc., can elevate your weapons to another level by increasing fire rate and reload speed. Combine Bulletstorm and the Loaded Prime Perk, and you’ll be able to have infinite ammo for a brief period of time, along with automatic reloads.
1 Handler
Handler is the best Archetype in Remnant 2. It provides you with a loyal dog companion that can not only help you in combat but also has various other utilities that can be extremely useful on the battlefield.
Not only that, the dog’s abilities and perks can heal you and your teammates, and its perks offer damage and movement speed bonuses.
But the greatest perk is the Bonded Prime Perk. This perk makes the dog automatically try to revive you when you’re down. Also don’t forget to pet the dog, it heals him faster.
At the end of the day, it solely depends on your playstyle to determine what class best suits you. Hopefully, this list clears up your confusion, and once you’ve chosen your desired Archetype, keep leveling it up to use your full potential on the battlefield.
