New BTS Photos of Beetlejuice 2 Tease Spooky Graveyard Set

After 36 years of waiting, fans of the 1988 Tim Burton masterpiece Beetlejuice can finally rejoice. The long-awaited sequel is in the works, and new photos reveal a spooky cemetery set. The filming started this month, and the movie is slated to hit the theaters on September 6, 2024.

Twitterati Mad Monster has shared some eerie snaps from the set of Beetlejuice 2 on Twitter. The pictures reveal a creepy tomb and a solitary white church.

The tweet also reveals that the film is being shot in Buckinghamshire, UK, under the code “Blue Hawaii.” This is a nod to the original scrapped sequel that would have seen Beetlejuice go to Hawaii.

The chapel in the photo looks much like the one in Beetlejuice, an essential landmark in Winter River and part of Adam’s (Alec Baldwin) miniature town.

We have yet to learn much about the sequel’s story, but we know it will happen years after the first movie. Michael Keaton, Winona Ryder, and Catherine O’Hara will return as their characters from the original film, and Jenna Ortega from Wednesday will play Lydia Deetz’s daughter.

Justin Theroux and William Dafoe joined the film in May, with Dafoe playing a cop from the other side. Later, Monica Bellucci was added to the cast as Betelgeuse’s wife.

Danny Elfman, who composed the music for Beetlejuice, is also back on board. The film’s shooting has already started. So, we’ll have to wait for more juicy details to appear!

Fans of the original film eagerly await Beetlejuice 2, but many fear the sequel wouldn’t match the mood of Burton’s first film. However, with photos of a grown-up Lydia Deetz in full goth garb online that fit well with the original movie’s style, Beetlejuice 2 looks like it will delight Burton fans everywhere.
