Beastars manga is published under Shonen Champion magazine, a weekly magazine that comes out every Monday.

Chapter 185 of the Beastars manga is not on a break this week. It will continue in the next issue of the Weekly Shonen Champion on Monday, July 20, 9:30 am PDT.

1. Recap of Chapter 184

I. The Blackout

Chapter 184, titled “We watch the Flowers as they Blossom into Ripe Fruit,” begins with the carnivores staring at Yahya with their hungry gaze.

They were sure that the male who showed himself in the blackout was a Beastar! Similar thought of ‘the higher the status of the herbivore, the tastier was their meat‘ ran in their minds.

Yahya repeated they were only allowed to move if they were willing to eat him. They knew he was testing them. The realization hit them that the entire city was filled with high-class meat left for the carnivores.

II. The Fruit Of The Effort

On the other hand, Melon remarks about the predations that would happen during the blackout tonight to Legos.

Legos enquires if it’s all right on Melon’s end and can he see in the dark, to which he jokes he’ll think of an answer that Legos would hate the most.

But without wasting any time, Legos punches Melon and announces he’s had enough of Melon’s shifty attitude and hits him again, telling him he’s there for his capture.

But Melon continues with his leisure talks without fighting back and causes Legos to loosen his grip around him. He takes this chance and slips behind Legos, catching him off guard.

Melon starts hitting Legos, spilling blood everywhere, and gaining pleasure out of it. He decides he would kill Legos tonight and goes on about how irresponsible hypocrites are for wanting herbivores and carnivores to get along.

In the middle of his speech, the lights turn back on, and the panel is shifted to the scene before Yahya, where the herbivores and carnivores stood still holding each other’s hands all through the blackout, as a sign of relying on each other.

The chapter ends with Melon’s surprised face as Legos grabs his shoulders!

Beastars is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Paru Itagaki.

It has been serialized in Weekly Shōnen Champion since September 2016, with its chapters collected in 19 tankōbon volumes as of July 2020.

The story takes place in a world of modern, civilized, anthropomorphic animals with a cultural divide between carnivores and herbivores.
