Battlefield 2042 is all set to showcase large-scale player battles with future-esque combat scenarios. The third title in the Battlefield ‘42’ series has hyped players enough to jump back on Battlefield 4, which has, in turn, led to the current servers being overloaded.
It is no surprise that players have been enticed by the future combat in the Battlefield 2042 trailer, and a similar game that promises similar gameplay is none other than Battlefield 4. Thus it was only a matter of time that a surge of new players revives the old title.
It was mentioned in the official post by EA that,
“Since then, many of you have jumped back into Battlefield 4 to already get a taste of the return to all-out-warfare, We’ve been monitoring your experience and noticed queue times in the US West region were far longer than in other regions. Good news, we’ve increased server capacity for this region – you can expect less waiting, and more playing.”
EA Official Post
As of June 13, steamDB saw a peak of almost 11K concurrent players in Battlefield 4.
Coming to Battlefield 2042, according to DICE, when the game hits the shelves in October this year, several massive maps will be added with large-scale weather changes. Expect to be hit by a gigantic tornado when you are fighting with your allies.
Those concerned with load times because of the 128 player capacity of lobbies, DICE has confirmed the presence of AI bots to fill these large maps. That should not be a problem as given the current hype, players will be lining up to join the lobbies even with the fact that there is no battle royale mode.
About Battlefield 2042
Battlefield 2042 is the seventeenth installment in the Battlefield series developed by DICE and published by Electronic Arts. The game is a first-person online multiplayer shooting title. This installment of Battlefield will not feature a single-player campaign mode.
The year is 2042 and the world is in ruins. Natural disasters run rampant, ocean levels have risen, the world economy has collapsed, and the US and Russia are at war. You step into the shoes of a non-patriated soldier – a soldier without a side. The games’ story will be revealed through episodic additions, allowing players to create a future for themselves and other non-pats in a world on the brink of destruction.
