EA and DICE have announced a slew of gaming partnerships for the upcoming Battlefield 2042. On consoles, the new-gen Xbox Series X|S will be the official partner of the new game.
While it is known that the title is not an Xbox exclusive, EA is yet to disclose how this partnership will impact the game post-launch.
All that’s known about the partnership right now is that it will help ensure that Battlefield 2042 is the best entry in the franchise.
It’s not clear how this will play out for gamers on the new-gen Xbox machines – it could be exclusive DLC and features or console-specific content – but they certainly do have cause to be excited.
In addition to announcing this console partnership, the developers also revealed four other tie-ups for the game:
Nvidia as Graphics Platform Partner: For the “ultimate PC experience” thanks to DLSS and Nvidia Reflex’s low latency mode.
Logitech as PC Peripherals Partner: Lightsync tech and peripherals from Logitech will be optimized for Battlefield 2042.
Polaris as Off-Road Vehicle Partner: Authentic Polaris vehicles, including the Polaris Sportsman ATV, will be a part of Battlefield 2042.
WD_Black as Gaming Storage Partner: Not much was announced concerning this partnership other than the fact that the two companies will work together to “ensure Battlefield 2042 gamers have the best possible gaming experience.”
EA Dice will probably detail these partnerships further at the EA Play Live event on July 22. The developers will also detail a new game mode for Battlefield 2042 at this event.
Battlefield is set to arrive for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S on October 22. The highly anticipated title will bring massive 128-player battles and add natural disasters to the Battlefield experience.
While some may be disappointed with the lack of a single-player campaign, it is clear that EA and Dice are going all out on making the game an unforgettable experience, and it’s going to be interesting to see what other info is revealed in the months leading up to launch.
About Battlefield 2042
Battlefield 2042 is the seventeenth installment in the Battlefield series developed by DICE and published by Electronic Arts. The game is a first-person online multiplayer shooting title. This installment of Battlefield will not feature a single-player campaign mode.
The year is 2042 and the world is in ruins. Natural disasters run rampant, ocean levels have risen, the world economy has collapsed, and the US and Russia are at war. You step into the shoes of a non-patriated soldier – a soldier without a side. The games’ story will be revealed through episodic additions, allowing players to create a future for themselves and other non-pats in a world on the brink of destruction.
