EA is planning to break the internet on October 22, 2021, by launching the most anticipated title of the year, Battlefield 2042. Since the trailer, the Battlefield fans and the entire gaming community have been impatiently waiting for this launch.
As the developers are promising, Battlefield 2042 will be the return of the classic all-out warfare modes of the franchise. Its dynamically-changing battlegrounds and cutting-edge arsenal will provide the player with an action-packed, satisfactory gaming adventure.
The game will have an unprecedented scale on vast environments and support a whooping 128 players in a single game.
Unfortunately, for the Single player enthusiast, EA has wholly scrapped off the Campaign mode, but to make up for it, they have revealed some brand new and vast maps along with many exciting game modes. In such enormous maps, even the regular multiplayer game modes will become thrilling.
According to the official site and announcements, the game will consist of All-Out Warfare, Battlefield Portal, and Hazard Zone as the primary game modes. The classic Conquest and Breakthrough mode will be returning under the category of All-Out Warfare mode.
All-Out Warfare Will Bring Back the Classic Battlefield Multiplayer Experience
The All-Out Warfare mode will be a fast-paced, blood-pumping gaming experience with 128 players battling it out together in a single game. This multiplayer experience will contain two of the most iconic fan-favorite modes, Conquest and Breakthrough.
- Conquest– Everyone knows what the Conquest is all about. In this game mode, players are divided into two teams, and both these teams will fight for control of the neutral flag points. Once these flags are conquered, they will become the spawn points for the team in charge. A team can win by beating the opponents to the score limit. I believe that the massive maps of this new title will somewhat create many smaller battlefields within a large “war” like scenario.
- Breakthrough– The Breakthrough mode, introduced in Battlefield 1, will also be returning in Battlefield 2042 All-Out Warfare. It is just an evolved version of the Conquest. The players in this mode are divided into two teams; Attackers and Defenders. Both have to capture neutral zones, and the team which depletes the number of respawning tickets collectively available to another group wins.
Battlefield Portal Will Allow Players to Control the Game Modes and Rules
Battlefield Portal is a Sandbox mode; this new mode will allow the players to customize everything they want in a Battlefield game. From maps to the pieces of equipment, players can use ‘The Builder,’ which seems like a primary coding tool to tinker with the tiniest of the details of the game.
This will allow a whole set of new game modes, developed by the community, to be easily accessible for all the players; apart from this, some default-created modes will also be available on a cyclical basis.
The portal will bring back Maps, Weapons, and Vehicles from old games like Battlefield 1942, Battlefield 3, etc.
The iconic maps of Arica Harbor, El Alamein, Battle of the Bulge, Valparaiso, Caspian Border, and Noshahr Canals are making a return in Battlefield 2042 with a brand-new feel to them.
Hazard Zone, Another Battle Royale Mode?
Last but not least, Hazard Zone is something which we do not know much about. The official sources are entirely silent on it aside from telling the audience that it is a modern take on the Battlefield gameplay and that it is not in any way a battle royale mode.
While many Battle Royale mode fans will be disheartened, I believe there should be no Battle Royale modes in Battlefield 2042 as the current gaming environment is already packed with Battle Royales.
The community is speculating that this mode will deal with the same capture-the-site kind of mechanics. Over time, some areas of the map will become unapproachable because they are ‘Hazardous’ from harmful elements like; poisonous gas, thunderstorm, etc.
Will There Be Miniature Game Modes in Battlefield 2042 for Last Gen Console Players?
A Redditor by the name of u/We_are7Anonym posted an image on the r/Battlefield2042 subreddit in which we can see the “small” versions of all the game modes, including conquest Breakthrough and Hazard zone. The Reddit community is speculating that these smaller versions could be there to either support the last-gen consoles or to make the game more fast-paced and short-lengthed.
As the new title will be enormous, it is possible that not all the consoles will be able to run it properly. Suppose the leaks are accurate, then under both the circumstances, it looks like EA is trying to look after its community and want to include everyone in this new experience by making it accessible and fun for all.
How Much Will Battlefield 2042 Cost?
Battlefield 2042 will be available for PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC for $69.99, and for the previous-gen consoles, the game on PS4 and Xbox One consoles will cost $59.99.
The EA Play subscribers will get access to a 10-hour trial from October 15, 2021, and the ones who pre-order will get access to the open beta from the same date.
About Battlefield 2042
Battlefield 2042 is the seventeenth installment in the Battlefield series developed by DICE and published by Electronic Arts. The game is a first-person online multiplayer shooting title. This installment of Battlefield will not feature a single-player campaign mode.
The year is 2042 and the world is in ruins. Natural disasters run rampant, ocean levels have risen, the world economy has collapsed, and the US and Russia are at war. You step into the shoes of a non-patriated soldier – a soldier without a side. The games’ story will be revealed through episodic additions, allowing players to create a future for themselves and other non-pats in a world on the brink of destruction.
