The third movie in the Ant-Man franchise, “Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania” was released on February 17, 2023 in theatres. It follows Ant-Man and The Wasp as they get stuck in the Quantum Realm and are forced to face the evil time traveler, Kang the Conqueror.
The movie has a total run time of 1 hour and 57 minutes which is pretty long if you aren’t in a country that gives intermissions.
Since it is a Marvel movie, there are bound to be long fight scenes, which you can use to take bathroom breaks. Besides these, there are a few other moments you can skip out on that don’t have much effect on the story.
I won’t give away any crucial information about the movie but I’ll still warn you about minor spoilers.
Disclaimer: These are just personal suggestions.
1. Catch-up Scene
About 95% of this movie is set in the Quantum Realm, while the remaining 5% takes place on Earth. If you feel the need to take a break at the very beginning itself, you could go during the Earth scenes.
After Scott’s monologue about what he has been up to for the last few years, there are scenes of him with Cassie and Hope after which they also join Hank and Janet. You could call these scenes the “calm before the storm” and they last at least 5 minutes.
2. Meeting the Aliens
After landing in the Quantum Realm, Scott and Cassie are found by the aliens living there. This scene is more of a comic relief than a plot point so unless you’re a huge fan of Paul Rudd and his humour, you can sit this one out.
This scene happens about 23 minutes into the movie and it involves Scott and Cassie introducing themselves to the aliens.
3. Escaping Lord Krylar
After we are introduced to Janet’s friend Lord Krylar from the Quantum Realm, a misunderstanding occurs which causes Janet, Hope and Hank to flee the scene.
At around the 40-minute-mark is a short action sequence for the same but it will give you enough time to take a bathroom break and come back.
4. Invasion and Fight Scene
If you missed your chance in the previous scene, you can always get up in the one that follows.
Shortly after Janet, Hope and Hank escape, the area where Scott and Cassie are in is attacked, leading to another action sequence. This one is slightly longer. The only thing you’ll miss is Scott and Cassie bonding over fighting moves and how to use their suits.
5. The Final Battle
The final battle takes up at least 25 minutes of the last part of the movie. But if you’re planning on missing a little of it, I’d suggest leaving any time between the 90 and 95-minute-mark.
You are going to watch a Marvel movie so it wouldn’t make much sense if you missed the epic climax scene.
6. Conclusion
Ideally you should sit through the entire movie but if you absolutely have to get up in between, these scenes would be a good time to do that.
I want to add that the film really starts picking up about 50 minutes in because that’s when all the crucial information is revealed to us. Also make sure you aren’t missing the mid-credit and post-credit scenes but you probably already know that if you’re an avid Marvel movie watcher.
If you’re really desperate but you don’t want to miss a single detail of the movie, you could always do what Paul Rudd suggested during the Avengers: Endgame press tour, “getting one of those giant tubs of popcorn and then just like lowering it under the seat…”
