If you enjoy a laid-back, soothing watch where the words carry more weight than the fight scenes, then I highly recommend giving Bartender: Glass of God a go.
I found it to be a breath of fresh air compared to all the other crazy, unrealistic anime out there. No love triangles or magical powers, just a good old story about a bartender serving up drinks and giving advice to his customers.
The new anime series, BARTENDER Glass of God, has been confirmed to premiere in April 2024. Fans can catch the series as it airs on Crunchyroll.
What I loved most about it was how easy it was to get lost in the story, and before I knew it, hours had passed.
There was an older anime version, but this new one seems like it’s going to be even better. I can’t wait to see how they bring Ryu Sasakura to life on screen.
Bartender: Glass of God Plot – What is the anime about?
As stated by the staff working on the anime, cocktails made with the same recipe can taste different if made by different people, and that’s where the bartender’s skills come in.
It’s a story that’s like a great cocktail – sometimes sweet, sometimes bitter, with a clean aftertaste.
The main character, Ryuu Sasakura, is a young bartender who comes back to Japan after traveling around the world.
His philosophy is that bartenders and doctors are the only two professions where you can’t lie to your customers.
BARTENDER Glass of God anime follows Ryuu, who is a master at figuring out what’s going on in his customer’s heads, then healing their worries or troubles with a drink and a lesson hidden within his cocktails.
Eden Hall, the bar where Ryuu works, is situated in the Ginza district of Tokyo. It’s a quiet place where customers from all walks of life come to forget their troubles and have a godly glass of a drink.
The plot is particularly interesting because Ryuu is known to always serve the “Glass of the Gods,” which means he can make the drink that best suits the situation.
Cast of Bartender: Glass of God Anime
The official release date of the anime was recently announced, and we also got a sneak peek of some of the crew members.
Ryoichi Kuraya will be directing the anime adaptation, Mariko Kunisawa will be writing the scripts, and Yoichi Ueda will be in charge of the character design and animation direction in BARTENDER Glass of God.
River will handle the animation production, and I can’t wait to see who else will be joining the cast.
And here’s the cherry on top: Suntory Holdings Limited, a Japanese liquor company with over 100 years of experience, will lend its expertise and collaborate with the production to ensure the drinks in the series are spot on.
This is going to be one classy show, folks!
Where to watch Bartender: Glass of God anime?
I can’t wait to see what kind of cocktails Ryuu will create and how he’ll help his customers with wise words of wisdom.
BARTENDER Glass of God is set to air in April 2024. It will be available for streaming on Crunchyroll across North America, Europe, Africa, Oceania, Central America, South America, the Middle East, and CIS.
Of course, other streaming sites may follow suit, but for now, we’ll just have to wait patiently for further news and confirmation.
I’m already counting down the days until I can binge-watch this fantastic anime!
