In Episode 8 of “Banished from the Hero’s Party,” Van killed the hill giants just because they chose peace over violence. Any sane person knows this is not what a hero does, and we get a much clearer idea of how dangerous he is and how crazy his beliefs are. Van has no morals and blindly follows what he believes to be right.

He even tried to force the villagers into fighting the demon king’s army and die for it. Not only that, but he tried to use the dragons that came for him to destroy Zoltan(yeah, that’s definitely not what a hero does). Red came to help Yarandrala and Danan. 2. Episode 9 Speculation

Van already had some screws loose from believing too much in his blessing but getting almost killed by Ruti’s one punch made him go totally insane. He swore to kill her, and who knows what would happen if they came face to face. As how he is right now, he can never defeat Ruti. However, after this defeat, he might return to the capital without causing any more trouble. With this, Red and Ruti’s vacation will come to an end.

3. Recap of Episode 8

Van killed all the hill giants once he reached their castle and, in the end, beheaded their leader. The most dangerous thing in all these was he believed that by staying peaceful, the giants were denying the will of the god, so they must die. This malicious belief made Tisse wary of him.

Later that night, Tisse sat down and chatted with Theodora as they finished dinner together. Theodora was pleasantly surprised to know that Albert missed him. Next, we saw Red, Rit, and Ruti enjoying curry buns when they saw a group of pegasus fly over their heads as if they were running from something.

As Van was returning to Zoltan, Theodora/Escarlata warned him not to use the mind manipulation magic of the fairy king’s shield. The whole village hosted a party for the hero’s welcome, which had a completely opposite reaction to Van. He suddenly called the villagers heretics and told them to fight the demon king with him.

Theodora tried to stop him from using the fairy king’s shield, but Van’s companion stopped her with her immense magical power. Tisse was simply too weak to do anything. Fortunately, Yarandrala showed up. She was strong but not enough to defeat Van alone. Danan joined the fight to assist her, and both wondered why Van wasn’t using healing magic.

It was answered moments later as Van used reversal magic to transfer his wounds onto Danan. Van was far away from what a hero should be like. Yarandrala quickly healed Danan, but before the fight could continue, a lot of salt dragons came to avenge their kin that Van killed. Instead of saving the village, Van wanted to use the dragons to destroy it.

His reasoning was that the destruction would motivate the villagers to fight. He attacked Yarandrala, and this could have been dangerous for her since she was shielding the dragons’ attacks, but a miracle happened. Red arrived there and saved her. He swiftly stole the shield from Van and used it as bait to drag the dragons away.

Before Van could catch up, Red returned the shield to the dragons. Van arrived and attacked Red, and once again, due to his poor swordsmanship, Red easily dodged it. The way he rendered a hero powerless shocked Van, but before he could do anything else, Ruti came from behind and knocked him out with a single punch.

Ruti’s punch nearly killed Van as he bled too much. Being the “devout” follower of Damis, he accepted death, too. At the very last moments, something came to his mind, and he used healing magic to bring himself back from sure death. This messed up his head more than it already was, and he swore to kill Ruti.
