Developers Larian Studios had moved to Microsoft to break the parity pact wherein titles must be released for the Xbox Series X and the less powerful Series S on the same day. And they succeeded.
Larian Studios’ developer Michael Douse took to Twitter to reply to a Tweet by Eurogamer, which said that a leak had confirmed Baldur’s Gate 3’s Xbox release date. To this leak he noted that this was news to him, suggesting that this leak was false and that they would announce the release date once they were confident.
Michael Douse also said that this would be possible only towards the end of the year, which is the timeline they have in mind while developing the Xbox version of Baldur’s Gate 3.
However, they are not pushing for a quick release. Developing studios seemed to have taken a page out of Cyberpunk 2077’s rushed and buggy initial release days.
As a result, Michael said their “key takeaway” while developing the Xbox version is to keep it as bug-free as possible and make a good version that the Xbox fans deserve.
He made a statement by saying that the developers are going to work on the title until they are “happy to release it.” This is a great stance and is a move that most developers should adopt.
Instead of pushing for an early release, developing studios like Larian Studios, who aim for quality, succeed in the long run.
This would keep up Baldur’s Gate 3’s reputation of being one of the best titles of the year and arguably of all time. This success has not gone to their heads, and instead, they are working harder to deliver an Xbox experience on Series X|S that is unparalleled.
