Although it has only been a few months since its release, Baldur’s Gate 3 continues to be plagued by bugs and glitches. However, Larian Studios has been consistently putting out hotfixes to smoothen out any minor bumps. The studio has put yet another update which goes on to show just how fierce their post-launch support is!
Larian Studios has released Hotfix #14 for Baldur’s Gate 3. The update is now live on all three platforms– PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S. While a third of the update is for Xbox-specific issues, the rest of the fixes are applicable for every version of the game.
Hotfix #14 resolves 11 major bugs including the game-crashing ones. Earlier, Baldur’s Gate 3 would crash if a player tried loading a saved file in Honour Mode. Some even reported instability when using the split-screen multiplayer function.
Cross-save downloads have been revamped in Baldur’s Gate 3. To avoid crashes, the game now includes a feature to serialize cross-save download and upload requests whilst bigger files are syncing simultaneously.
Here are the fixes featured in Baldur’s Gate 3 Hotfix #14:
- Fixed a potential crash when trying to load a savegame in Honour Mode.
- Fixed a potential crash when a second player joins on split-screen.
- Allocated additional memory to fix a crash during the initial cloud sync on Xbox.
- Fixed a potential Xbox crash relating to DLCs.
- Fixed a crash related to cloths.
- Fixed a potential crash.
- Fixed the DC for pickpocketing a container not accounting for the weight and value of the items inside the container.
- Fixed a potential blocker if the host disconnects their Xbox wireless controller while there is a virtual keyboard on screen.
- Fixed a possible crash when trading with NPCs in the Underdark while a party character is near a bibberbang.
- Fixed a potential crash when reloading a save that was done during a cinematic.
- Added a feature to serialize cross-save download and upload requests to avoid crashes on Xbox when multiple big saves are syncing simultaneously.
Shortly after Baldur’s Gate 3 was released for Xbox, many players wondered whether it would make it to Xbox Game Pass. Amidst the rising rumors, Larian Studios has finally come forward and cleared the air.
In a recent interview, Larian Studios founder and CEO, Swen Vincke has clarified that the studio never intended for Baldur’s Gate 3 to be a part of Xbox Game Pass. Vincke emphasized that they are happy to let it be a separate entity rather than as part of a group.
Swen Vincke, CEO at Larian Studios:
“We made a big game, so I think there’s a fair price to be paid for that, and I think that that is okay. We don’t charge you any micro-transactions on top of it, so you get what you pay for. Upfront it’s a big meaty game. So I think that should be able to exist as it is. This is what allows us to continue making other games.”
While this news might come as a disappointment to some, there’s no telling what the future holds. Who knows, we might see Baldur’s Gate 3 in unexpected places next year!
