Baldur’s Gate III has received the highest number of nominations at the Game Awards 2023 and is tied only with Alan Wake II. This shows the caliber of the title that had been in beta for over two years. Baldur’s Gate III was released on Xbox Series X|S after the initial PC and PlayStation 5 launch.

The title was the first that broke Microsoft’s simultaneous launch parity agreement for Series S and Series X, under which titles had to be released simultaneously for the Series X and S. Since its launch on Xbox, Baldur’s Gate III has suffered from a fatal issue that resulted in the deletion of saved gameplay.

Larian Studios has suggested that switching off the “Quick Resume” feature and exiting to the main menu whenever shutting down the game and ensuring the title has quit altogether before shutting the Xbox down can prevent the saved game deletion issue. Microsoft’s latest firmware update for Xbox Series X|S, bearing version 2921, aims to solve this issue.

Larian Studios, being very proactive, has been monitoring the complaints on the Xbox Series X|S. They continue monitoring the saved game files to determine what is causing the issue.

Despite the firmware update, Larian Studios asked players of the game to be vigilant not to lose multiple hours of their hard work. Updating the console to the latest firmware might remedy the issue. Still, an in-game patch is missing, causing Larian to issue multiple warnings to be vigilant when saving and quitting the game.

The developer requested the players to contact Xbox’s support page if they continue to experience bugs regarding saved gameplay. The issue can be expected to be resolved soon.
