Back Arrow is an upcoming original TV anime, set to release in January 2021. It is an exciting addition to the Winter 2021 seasonal anime list.
The series has gained a lot of attention due to its stunning visuals, exciting premise, and a cast of renowned voice actors like Yūki Kaji and Kenshō Ono.
Director Gorō Taniguchi, famous for Code Geass, is working on the project with Studio VOLN.
The anime is set in a land called Ringarindo, which is protected by a huge wall. The wall is worshiped as a god since the entirety of Ringarindo is protected by it.
One day, a mysterious man named Arrow appears in the Essha village and claims to be from the other side of the wall.
With no recollection of his past, Arrow decides to venture outside the wall, searching for his identity. However, this journey isn’t going to be easy sailing for him.
1. Release Date
Back Arrow is set to premier on January 9, 2021. The anime is confirmed to run for a course of 24 episodes.
The show will run for two cours (seasons), and since it is an original TV anime, there is no source material (manga, video games, etc.) for Back Arrow, and hence the plot is unpredictable for now.
2. Visuals and Trailers
The visuals so far give us a glimpse of the fantastic character designs done by Shinobu Ohtaka (Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic) and Toshiyuki Kanno (Berserk).
The recently released official Trailer of Back Arrow familiarizes us with the main cast and introduces Ringarindo, the characters’ dwelling.
The characters use a bracelet called the “Bindwapper” to channel the strength of their conviction and transform into “Briheight” that look like powerful, techy armors.
Briheights (Muga, Ryuju, Shadoh, and Gigan) of various characters are also featured in the trailer, where they showcase their abilities through a brief action scene.
We also get a preview of the anime’s opening theme, “dawn” by LiSA. The ending theme “Sekai no Hate” or “The Edge of the World” will be performed by Shuka Saitō.

Back Arrow is an original anime series that will be released in 2021. It is written by Kazuki Nakashima and animated by Studio VOLN.
Set in Ringarindo, a land surrounded by walls which cover, protect the people of that land. A mysterious man, Back Arrow, arrives.
He has no recollection of his past but is known to have come outside the walls. Arrow tries his luck in escaping the walled land once again but gets involved in a struggle where he can lose himself.
