Anime streaming services have changed the way people watch anime in the past few years. Now it is time for the Azuki app to do the same with the manga sphere.
Given its history, it is surprising that the manga medium is not as popular as it should have been. Many people seem to be unaware of a series’ manga roots even though they are huge fans of the anime.
To resolve this, Kira Kira Inc. had announced the digital manga reading application Azuki. They had previously partnered up with Kodansha USA to bring several popular titles like Attack on Titan, Fairy Tail, and Tokyo Revengers. Now, they are about to expand a little more.
Azuki App has announced that they have partnered up with Kaiten Books and will offer their premium users four titles from their collection. The four titles are:
- Gacha Girl Corps
- The Yakuza’s Guide to Babysitting
- My Dad’s the Queen of All VTubers?!
- UzaMaid: Our Maid is Way Too Annoying
Accessing manga legally in the west has been quite difficult. The only way to do so until now was to buy physical volumes of the manga, which can get quite expensive due to several additional costs like shipping and licensing fees.
For many popular titles, there was a lack of English licensing due to which fans had to rely on dodgy translations that sometimes failed to deliver the mangaka’s intent.
The release of the Azuki app opens up the way for widespread licensing in many languages like Spanish, Chinese, Portuguese, and English.
While many mangakas refuse to get their manga digitized, services like these will give them an incentive to spread the word.
With over 180 titles added to their list even before their release, Azuki is one of those things that has set itself for success and we are all for it.
