1. How to Obtain the Totem of Defiance – Avowed
In Avowed, to restore the Totem of Defiance, you’ll need to collect its base and six fragments scattered across Emerald Stair. Each fragment provides a unique buff when added to the base, and you can only have one totem active at a time.
You can purchase the fragments for the Offering map from Lluisa Melcer at the Farmer’s Market for 500 coins to help you locate the totem fragments easily.
Once you’ve collected all the necessary pieces, The Schemer’s Offering will be fully restored, triggering a cutscene about the god Skaen.

2. How to Locate all 7 Totem of Defiance Fragments – Avowed
To reconstruct the Totem of Defiance, find all the seven fragments using these steps:
Totem Base
- Travel to the Shrine of Skaen in Delemgan Glade.
- Climb the platforms to reach the top and find The Schemer’s Offering, the base of the Totem of Defiance.
Effigy Necklace
- Find the secret tunnel system below Naku Tedek and enter.
- Go down the spiral staircase, turn left at the bottom, and use Giatta’s Spectral Jolt to activate the switch.
- Enter the room and use an ice spell or Eye of Rymrgand to create a platform.
- Climb up the tree root and onto the ledge to find the fragment on a desk.
Idol of Secret Hatred
- Travel to Naku Tedek’s campsite.
- Climb down the ravine to the west of Naku Tedek Grounds and cross using the fallen tree trunk.
- Turn left and walk along the ledges to reach the Ancient Grotto entrance.
- Enter the cave, climb the ledge, and crouch through the tunnel to find the fragment.
Idol of Violent Rebellion
- Travel to the Rolling Crags Beacon at the base of the Ranger Headquarters.
- Climb the boxes on the south side and grab the overhang near the ladder.
- Climb up the ladder, turn left, and jump to the next platform.
- Cross the walkway and climb to the next platform.
- Climb up another ladder to reach the top and find the fragment on a stack of boxes.
Sacrificial Dagger
- Travel to the Abandoned Farms in the Rolling Crags region and clear the camp of Xaurips.
- Find the Sacrificial Dagger lodged in a door with a note attached.
Obsidian Prayer Beads
- Enter the Delemgan Glade courtyard, facing the large tree.
- Climb up the rocks near the broken stone pillar and turn right to head towards the large tree root.
- Climb the tree to reach the rocky overhang. Turn around and jump to the ruined platform to find the fragment.
3. Buffs and Rewards from the Totem of Defiance – Avowed
Once you’ve collected all the fragments, activate the totem to earn the following powerful buffs:
- Idol of Violent Rebellion: Boosts damage against “skull” enemies.
- Sacrificial Dagger: Enhances Second Wind to cast a Flurry of Blows.
- Idol of Covert Plots: Grants +2 Constitution and +2 Dexterity.
- Effigy Necklace: Deals +20% damage on your next attack within 10 seconds after taking damage (stacks with Retribution).
- Obsidian Prayer Beads: Inflicts high poison accumulation on critical hits.
- Idol of Secret Hatred: Increases damage against unaware enemies by 25%.
