Bel-Air Episode 9 to Bring Back Two Fresh Prince Stars for a Cameo

The Peacock reboot of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air will bring back two of its alumnae, Daphne Maxwell Reid and Vernee Watson-Johnson in the penultimate Episode 9 of Bel-Air Season 1 this Thursday, March 24.

As is the tale of every reboot ever, they can’t escape the legacy of the original show. Bel-Air has decided to embrace it and will establish an even deeper connection with The Fresh Prince in its upcoming episodes leading to the finale.

In the new episode, Reid and Watson-Johnson will portray Helen and Janice, respectively, who are members of the Art Council Board of Trustees.

Peacock also released a set of stills that showed the two actresses in their new roles and Fresh Prince fans everywhere were hit with a sudden rush of nostalgia.

In the original Fresh Prince, Reid starred as Aunt Viv, replacing Janet Hubert after the first three seasons. Meanwhile, Watson-Johnson appeared in a total of 15 episodes as Will’s mother, Viola “Vy” Smith.

Peacock’s Bel-Air is a reimagination of the beloved classic sitcom and has previously received a two-season order back in September 2020.

Bel-Air airs new episodes every Thursday on Peacock and has four episodes to go before it wraps up Season 1, with the finale set for March 31.
