Statues are indeed a great way of remembering the importance of fictional characters. History reminds us that when fans deeply loved a fictional character, there came an interest in creating a permanent tribute to its legacy.
To celebrate the 75th anniversary of Captain America, even Marvel created a 13 foot Bronze status a while back. The statues can now be found in Brooklyn, NY.
Now, life-sized Bronze statues of Eren, Armin, and Mikasa from Attack on Titan will be unveiled at the Ōyama Dam in Hita City, which also happens to be the hometown of the creator on April 5.
IT consultant company T&S will be holding a smartphone game competition for the event. Money for the project came from crowdfunding (August to October) last year, where the campaign raised over 29 million yen (approximately US$267,000). Another statue of Levi has been planned for July this year.
The whole thing will start at 11 am live streaming of which will be held at Ōyama community center and Hitarinkō High School, which Isayama once attended as a student.
A nearby cafe, Mizube no Sato OYAMA, will hold an Attack on Titan-themed museum and café alongside the ceremony as well. The desk that Isayama used while drawing Attack on Titan during its debut will also be displayed.
