With the end of the wildly popular series, Attack on Titan, the storyline has gotten a bit long and very confusing timeline. For fans that haven’t yet caught up with the series, and the fans looking to get a handy recap of the story before its final arc ends, a hardcore fan of the manga has complied a detailed description of the story in one post. The post covers the past, and present of the story that has taken place before the last arc of the series, in the manga and anime.
/u/ H-K_47 on Reddit had complied an intricate summary of the series that explains the story to the reader chronologically. Starting long before we met Eren to the introduction of the Survey Corps to the current events of the series:
Shingeki no Kyojin is leading to an end in the anime as well as manga, with the anime’s ending scheduled later in 2019 with the final season of the series. The latest chapter of the manga is summed up as follows:
“Tasked with the job to keep the subjects of Ymir from reproducing by Zeke, Ymir begins her preparation; however, she is stopped in the process inside the coordinate space by Eren. Eren uses his powers in the coordinate space to see the past and the future to understand the full story of her becoming. Seeing the tragedies that befell Ymir, Eren begs her to put an end to this vicious cycle of Titans. He gives her an option, wanders around the coordinate space till the end of time, or to destroy the world by pooling her powers with Eren. Ymir decides to choose the latter and lends Eren her power.
As time continues outside of the coordinate space, it is revealed that Eren recovered even after his head was completely blown off from his shoulders. Soon after, the walls around Eldia begin to crumble, and the titans inside the wall awaken. With the control of the giant wall titans in one hand, Eren can finally start the destruction of the world.”
The series is going to have a satisfying ending regardless of whether its a happy ending with everything working out, or an ending that is as grim as its duration.
About Attack on Titan
Several hundred years ago, humans were nearly exterminated by Titans. Titans are typically several stories tall, seem to have no intelligence, devour human beings and worst of all, seem to do it for pleasure rather than as a food source. A small percentage of humanity survived by walling themselves in a city protected by extremely high walls which are even taller than the biggest Titans.
Fast forward to the present, and the city has not seen a titan in over 100 years. Teenage boy Eren Jaeger and his sister Mikasa Ackerman witnessed something horrific as the city walls are destroyed by a Colossal Titan that appears out of thin air.
