While we enjoyed Jean’s dreams and chapter 127 at Attack on Titan’s lighter side of things, chapter 128 brought us back to the gruesome reality.
Chapter 128 saw a battle b/w the alliance and enemies resulting in the death of some semi-important characters. (Face the reality, they were not important!)
Chapter 130, however, was on a whole new level! The Rumbling has begun! Eren’s attack commences – tens of Wall Titans are swimming across the ocean while Eren’s attack titan is in a huge skeletal form.
Now, it’s time to talk about the much-awaited chapter 131 of Attack on Titan.
1. Chapter 131 Raw Scans, Leaks & Spoilers
The English translated Raw scans for Chapter 131 of the Attack on Titan manga have already been leaked and the rough translation goes like this:
The chapter begins with the on-ground perspective of two Middle-Eastern boys during the rumbling – one of whom featured in chapter 123.
Halil(or Harir) and Ramzi are conversing about their acts of stealing money when their conversation is interrupted by a group of Marleyans running for their lives. Soon Halil and Ramzi witness the valley plunged in a lot of smoke. The chapter switches to Eren’s monologue during the flashback of his visit to Marley with the Survey Corps.
The monologue reveals his self-awareness regarding the plan and how he couldn’t agree with an outcome where Paradis Island was destroyed. Soon, Eren notices Halil being beaten by merchants.
Acknowledging the hypocrisy on his part, Eren saves the boy. Before leaving him, Eren breaks down and apologizes for the crime that he’s about to commit. He expresses immense guilt and sorrow. The chapter switches between Eren’s guilt-ridden monologue and Halil’s attempt to run away from the Wall Titans.
As Halil dies, the chapter reveals that Eren’s motivations were rooted not only in the protection of Eldians but also in his disappointment of the outside world – one that was not as described in Armin’s book.
Interestingly, before Halil dies, he sees Ymir present near the rubble. The chapter features a flashback of young Eren and Armin discussing the book. It delves into what Eren felt about the outside world,
“those who’ve seen it are the most free.”
is what young Eren says, and for a brief moment, adult Armin and young Eren see each other through Paths.
Finally, the chapter focuses on Armin and Annie’s conversation, where Armin expresses that he believes his idea of the outside world remains somewhere – hope remains. As he says this, the chapter reveals the final panel of Eren attached to the titan’s neck-deep and fast asleep.
2. Chapter 131 Release Date

In the next chapter, we will likely see a confrontation between Eren’s forces and the Alliance.
3. Is AOT Chapter 131 on a Break?
Attack on Titan manga is published under Bessatsu Shonen Magazine by Kodansha, which is a monthly magazine.
No, Attack on Titan manga is not on a break this month. The chapter will be out by July 2020. Chapter 129 did take an announced hiatus, but there has been no such news for chapter 131.
To be honest, Iseyama, on a break, makes me even more surprised than Connie watching his mom as a titan!
In its decade long history of serialization, Iseyama has managed to provide one chapter every month. However, the safety matters more than the legacy, right?
Shingeki no Kyojin manga went on a two-month hiatus in April due to the growing COVID-19 pandemic and returned in June’s issue.

5. Chapter 130 Plot
The recent chapter unfolds with Annie’s discovery that Liberio is doomed. Annie voices her lack of strength in moving forward and her hesitation to kill anyone, including Eren, if the situation arises.
The chapter soon segues to Eren’s monologue and a flashback of events. He wonders where his journey started but he claims that all the choices were made of his own accord. Eren’s memories reveal how his liaison with Yelena and Floch began.
His memories even reveal his conversation with Historia about his plan who resists it, at first. His scattered memories then show a brief conversation with Zeke about Mikasa’s feelings for him.
Eren expresses that he hopes that his friends will keep living on in peace after he dies. The chapter places scattered pieces of memories – some not seen before – where Historia asks whether she should bear a child, Eren stabbing his eye and chopping off his leg.
Finally, the chapter ends with a spectacular reveal of Eren’s Titan which is eerily similar to the look of The Devil.
