Isayama loves to torment his fans, whether with Attack on Titan’s story or its release. It’s been more than two years since he and MAPPA promised us this would be the end of the anime, yet they keep dividing it up.
Since 2020, as soon as the final season is about to reach its climax, fans are left with a frustrating cliffhanger and news of the anime’s return. One can only tolerate much, and AOT fans have clearly had enough.
However, that doesn’t stop MAPPA or Isayama from doing it again. Along with confirming Attack on Titan The Final Season part 3’s debut on March 3, 2023, the franchise also revealed its split into two cours.
Are we really surprised at this point? Not really.
The only question now is if we’ll ever get to see an end to the Attack on Titan anime. (I’m pretty sure even Eren wants to get over with it)

There’s no doubt about the anime ending, but it will take longer than expected. At first, we used to think that not much story was left and 2020 would mark the end of this beloved show, but that wasn’t the case.
In 2021, the anime returned, and we were absolutely sure about it being the finale, but they clowned us yet again. As the episodes aired, we realized that there was much left to cover and that the show was going at a plodding pace.
While I love that MAPPA paid so much attention to every detail and didn’t leave a single panel out, we were a little frustrated by the approach. The studio had failed in the planning aspect of the anime and was unable to grasp exactly how much time it would take to complete the final arc.
Let’s not forget about the obvious exploitative environment of the studio that keeps collecting big titles like Pokemons and doesn’t think of the employees’ welfare. Had they thought about the kind of pressure and deadlines MAPPA is putting on its animators, this wouldn’t have been an issue.
So, to answer your question simply, the anime will definitely end, and hopefully, part 3 will be the last. I do hope that Isayama and MAPPA stop milking out the story this much and pushing it to its absolute limits.
If the franchise pulls another prank on us by announcing part 4, then at least we’ll have some great memes coming out of fans who have run out of patience.
