‘Atelier Ryza: Ever Darkness & the Secret Hideout’ was the first game in the ‘Atelier Ryza’ trilogy, which is also one of the fan-favorites. The game shows the young girl Ryza going on an adventure with her friends Lent and Tao. On her way, she gets to learn alchemy and save humanity from oncoming danger.
An anime adaptation was announced a few months ago, which would adapt the first game. We still must wait another month for it to arrive, but Koei Tecmo has just announced some good news.
On Saturday, Koei Tecmo Games announced on their live stream for ‘Atelier Ryza: Ever Darkness & the Secret Hideout’ that the anime will debut on July 2 with a one-hour special. A special key visual was also released for the series.
Tomoyuki Shitaya has designed the visual above and is also the character designer for the anime series. This visual features Ryza, Lent, Tao, and Klaudia as it did in the previous one. It also features Empel Vollmer and Lila Decyrus, who were previously absent.
Sangatsu no Phantasia has performed the opening song “Golden Ray” for the first season. The cast members from the game are returning to voice their respective characters for the anime.

For an alchemy-themed series, ‘Atelier Ryza’ does not seem to have a dark tone. A one-hour special would give a nice idea of how the anime will play out. I want to watch all three games get adapted if it turns out to be worth the wait.

Reisalin “Ryza” Stout lives on Kurken Island and is excited to explore. She sneaks into a boat to the mainland with her friends Lent and Tao. The three are attacked by a monster but rescued by Empel and Lila, who teach them the skills of combat and alchemy.
