Ubisoft releases first post-launch update for Assassin’s Creed Mirage

Assassin’s Creed Mirage is finally here! Fans flocked to the streets of Baghdad, jumping from building to building, discovering the bustling lanes with a wary eye. Shortly after its release, Ubisoft released the first post-launch update for the game, but one tiny detail has sparked heated debates.

The Title Update 1.0.2 for Assassin’s Creed Mirage went live on October 5th. To everyone’s surprise, the update also added Denuvo DRM to the game which is an anti-tamper and digital rights management system. Many fans were shocked to see this addition given its controversial history.

Despite its objective, Denuvo DRM has had a sketchy history associated with it. It has been said to cause serious performance issues in games including popular titles such as Tekken 7 and Sonic Mania. Capcom has even gone so far as to remove the system from Resident Evil 2 and Devil May Cry V to improve performance.

Since it’s pretty early, there have been no reports of fluctuations in performance in AC: Mirage due to Denuvo DRM. However, it would be interesting to see how Ubisoft responds if such circumstances arise. Although the addition of Denuvo DRM is not uncommon, it certainly is frowned upon in the gaming community since it also makes modding for PC much more difficult.

7. About Assassin’s Creed Mirage

Assassin’s Creed Mirage is an action-adventure game developed by Ubisoft Bordeaux and published by Ubisoft. The game is the thirteenth primary installment in the Assassin’s Creed series and the successor to 2020’s Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. While its historical timeframe precedes that of Valhalla, its modern-day framing story succeeds Valhalla’s own.

Set in 9th-century Baghdad during the Islamic Golden Age—in particular during the Anarchy at Samarra—the story follows Basim Ibn Ishaq (a character first introduced in Valhalla), a street thief who joins the Hidden Ones to fight for peace and liberty against the Order of the Ancients,[b] who desire peace through control. The main narrative focuses on Basim’s internal struggle between his duties as a Hidden One and his desire to uncover his mysterious past.
