The future of Assassin’s Creed looks brighter than ever. With the 15th anniversary of the franchise, Ubisoft has revealed a bunch of upcoming Assassin’s Creed games during it’s Ubisoft Forward showcase. Among the newly announced Assassin’s Creed games, one of them is Assassin’s Creed Codename Jade.
Set in ancient China, Assassin’s Creed Jade will be the first ever open world Assassin’s Creed game coming to mobile devices. Confirmed to be a AAA RPG action-adventure game, players will be able to create their own assassins and fight various enemies while also exploring China.
Protagonist of the game
For the first time ever in Assassin’s Creed history, players will be able to create their own assassin protagonist. A brand new character creation feature is being implemented in the game. Therefore there isn’t a specific protagonist for this game.
This marks a huge step in terms of role-playing. Whether the character creation feature will be implemented in the future Assassin’s Creed games is a question that remains unanswered.
Setting of the game
The game is confirmed to be set in the year 215 BCE during the Qin dynasty, where players will explore the secrets of ancient China as well as parkour across the Great Wall of China. The game does not have an official name yet, hence it’s codename Jade.
Ubisoft has revealed only a bit of information about the game so a lot remains to be seen. However, a trailer was shown during the Ubisoft Forward showcase.
The trailer gives players their first look at the Ancient Chinese setting during the Qin dynasty, with an eagle flying above it. It ends with the familiar sight of an assassin perched on a ledge and then executing the leap of faith.
Gameplay
Assassin’s Creed Jade will feature traditional and classic Assassin’s Creed gameplay, built to play like it’s console counterparts but with touch controls for mobiles. Players can expect melee combat as well as parkour gameplay to feel like previous Assassin’s Creed games.
Additionally, the game will feature a unique and standalone storyline. Players will find themselves sneaking through the bustling cities, engaging in intense combat, and uncover the secrets, the vastness of ancient China.
Release Date and Platforms
There is no official release date for the Assassin’s Creed Codename Jade, as of now. The game is still being actively developed by Ubisoft so it will be a while before the game is released on all Android and iOS devices. It could be as early as 2023 or as late as 2024.
Assassin’s Creed Codename Jade is turning out to be very promising, based on the information we have. Featuring a vast open world and classic Assassin’s Creed gameplay, this game could be a huge stepping stone for the mobile game industry as well as the Assassin’s Creed franchise.
