Looking at Ascendance of a Bookworm’s immense popularity on streaming platforms, an anime sequel was inevitable. It was intitally expected it to come out in 2021 since anime projects are scheduled well in advance, but now the wait seems to be shorter.
On their official website, they announced that the release date for the new season has been scheduled for spring 2020. This release won’t be an actual season 2 but a split-cour extension to the first season.
For those who do not know what a “cour” is, a “cour” is a 3-month block of TV broadcasting based on the physical seasons usually composed of 10 to 13 episodes. A “split-cour” is where a single anime season takes a multi-month break before resuming TV broadcasting.
The finale for Part 1 was released as a two-part special episode on December 25, 2019, and the wait for the new season won’t hurt much since an OVA episode is also coming out on March 10, 2020. The OVA will have two parts and will be released with the limited edition of light novel Volume 22.
Will Myne be able to survive the battles of winter, complete her new printing machine, and launch the start of the very first printing industry in this world? We will find out soon, so stay tuned.
